What's new

What on earth have I done...

15/16 (dang so close to 8/8 but not quite there...) W&B half hollow. It's got Aluminum scales too!

My camera sucks. I need to get better pictures of the scales to show the pitting on them. I'm not sure If I should keep them stock or give it something new. From what I hear Aluminum was a fairly unusual material and it may be cooler to leave them as they are.

I paid less than 30 bucks for it too . I'm not one to count my blessings, but this was one of them .

I'm not sure what the pic is supposed to show along with the knife...
Aluminum was a rare scale material in the early days. Aluminum was pretty costly.
Remember the WASHINGTON MONUMENT has a point of aluminum as it was expensive then.

Lol the knife is to demonstrate that it's smaller than the chopper (width wise).

Yes I did get it from da bay. That's why I was so shocked when I was able to snag it. Usually these things go for a lot more. I guess since it didn't have the words "civil war" randomly inserted into the title or it didn't have some wild story to go with it, no one noticed.

I'm thinking I def want to keep the scales. The heavy pitting just gives it character. I will mirror finish the blade though methinks.

YEAH!
Can you get some pics of the whole razor for before and after pics.

I understand now about the size...
It is as nice as an 8/8

Will do! The befores are going to look crappy though if I start on it too soon as my camera stinkx. I usually ask a friend to help me take pictures to avoid this problem .

Something tells me this one is going to take a while.

EDIT here's pics

You can see the pitting there. I'm not sure if it's worth more as it is or if I were to give it scales. I'll see what the polish does to it as far as how it looks. I am really partial to that nice vine/leaf design on it.

In Napoleon times only the most important guests would be given aluminum utensils, the rest had to eat with silver and gold :)
And then it could be produced really cheap....
