What's new

What model and year is this razor?

Greetings everyone,

I came upon a Gillette safety razor, but have no idea what model it is or when it was made.

On the bottom of the razor there is a tiny number 11, along with "Made in England" and "Gillette".

I am hoping you shave experts can tell me a bit about this razor and if it will give me a quality shave.

Here are some photos:

Thanks for the help!

British Flair Tip Rocket. I'm not familiar with the British dating system. Someone should be along shortly that can answer that.

I have the USA Flair Tip SS and it shaves great. I would imagine this does as well.

Thanks for all the responses.

Is there anything particularly rare about these British Rockets, or are they pretty common?

I have not seen enough Rockets to know, but did they change anything like the TTO knob with time?

A US Super Speed has enough change to sometimes tell the decade and sometimes what part of a decade before you even pick it up to look at a date code.

according to the thread cited above; there are made in england razors that look just like american superspeeds; i.e w/o the typical gap in the handle that closes as the butterfly doors are opened, but with pointed rocket style endcaps. the tto knob on those looks just like the other flare tipped rockets and the midfifties-early sixties american flare tips. haven't seen any photos of fkare tipped rockets with tto knobs like the later american superspeeds.

The american Flare Tip SS was produced between 1954 and 1966, it is assumed that the British Flare Tip Rocket was produced at the same time.
