What's new

What does your drinks cabinet say about you?

This evening whilst deciding what to drink I realised that, unknowingly, I had collected a number of Islay whiskies. I have 2 x 10 yrs. old Laphroaig, 1 x 25 yrs. old Bowmore, 1 x 12 yrs. old Bowmore, 1 x 16 yrs. old Lagavulin and 1 independent Laphroaig bottling. At the moment I have no other whiskies in the house.

So that collection tells you I like smoky, peaty whiskies and probably should move to Islay (if only I could persuade SWMBO).

What would your drinks cabinet indicate about you?

Well, mine would say I don't drink. Well, on a more serious note, it would say gin, rum and whiskey are preferred.

People are always surprised when then see my liquor cabinet. I have it in a cabinet in the kitchen that looks deceptively small, but have managed to put a lot of bottles in there. So people would likely say that I like to drink far more than I actually do, but most of what I have is pretty good quality stuff. I have several quality bourbons at any given time, plus a selection of other liquors, mostly from the spirit of the month selections, and a few supporting mid range bottles for mixing purposes (vodka, white rum, tequila, etc.).

I ran out of room a fair while ago, so my wife told me that I can only buy new bottles when I finish old ones.:mad3: Even more reason for me to buy quality when I do buy.

What DE said. I'm a gin, rum, and bourbon drinker. I don't really care for anything else spirits-wise. I have a hopeless addiction to craft beer though.

Well I use an outside patio bar in my basement instead of a cabinet and it would say, I am well stocked in whiskey, vodka, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec, and vermouth.
A couple bottles are from 15 plus years ago (wedding).

My 100 bottle wine cooler would say I am well stocked in reds but not as many whites.

The thing is, I drink rarely and this is mostly for Tennis and Christmas parties.

That I like scotch, rum and anised liquors (Pernod, Pastis, absinthe).

I would also say I just finished my absinthe bottle :(

Mine is quite full too. I keep finding neat things to try. I love Irish Whiskeys and single malt scotch. I also very much enjoy craft beer.

What would your drinks cabinet indicate about you?

That I never finish anything.

For several years I was opening bottles like a lush, but creating a bottleneck (heh, heh) of 3/4 full bottles. I'll be working that off for some time...

It would scream get a higher paying job, you wanker, you can't afford to drink this pricey ****e! Mead is a favorite along with any scotch that has a deers head on the packaging...curious...Also, that I like to enjoy cultural spirits.
