What's new

What do I have here?

Hey gentlemen,

First off let me introduce myself. My name is Matt and I am 24 years old. I stumbled across Badger and Blade while looking for tips on how to eliminate razor burn and ingrown hairs on my neck about 2 months ago. Needless to say I did A LOT of reading and research and my shave has gotten much better and I now have a few key goodies in my shaving arsenal thanks to y'all's recommendations.

I started off by picking up a PenWorks silvertip brush, a few samples of Mama Bear's soaps, a big tube of the Bigelow (proraso) cream, and a WONDERFUL GP G5 scuttle I scored off of Ebay.

Still in search of a razor, my Uncle mentioned that he had one that had been handed down to him that belonged to my great-great-grandfather. Intrigued, he gave it to me a few days ago as a Christmas gift and I am totally baffled by what this thing is. Even in all my research on here I have never seen anything like it and if anybody is gonna know what it is it would be y'all.

This thing is in like new condition and has a built in stone and strop and is super cool.

If anyone could give me any info as to what it is and how old and what not it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance fellas!

Im gonna try to attach images for the first time so forgive me if they dont work and Ill try again.

Welcome to B&B! At least publicly. :wink2:

What you have is a Rolls Razor. It is an excellent example of a wedge blade razor from the early part of the 1900's. If you are lucky your great-great-grandfather may have kept it properly honed and it may be almost ready for use. I see you also have the directions. Simply follow along and give it a try.

Awesome, yeah this one states on the box that it is a "Viscount" model. Probably should have put that in the description....
