Today I used:
razor: Merkur 34C
blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Pre-Shave: Prep Cream in jar
Soap: Proraso Red
Brush: Omega S-Brush
Post-Shave: Fine Santal Absolut
Result: 5/10. The Gillette Silver Blue just didn't perform as well for me in the Merkur 34C. It was a good shave, but with four passes it felt like what I got with two passes from the Nacet. Even now I feel some stubble. Maybe it will get better on the second or more shaves. I will give the blade another go tomorrow with a different soap but the same razor. Third day I will try it in my slant head from Maggard Razors. It wasn't a horrible shave, just average. The weird part was how comfortable the shave was, just not efficient.
Prep: None
Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Omega 10051
Soap: Proraso White
Post Shave: Cold water splash
Rating: 8/10
2 passes wtg, small weeper below lower lip, left side. Minor, deliberate, slow clean up. Very close to dfs. Minimal irritation below lower lip for 30 mins, other wise very comfortable post shave.
I don't get it, but I'm understanding YMMV now. Been here a while, have some vintage Gillettes, assortments of blades, soaps, brushes, and aftershaves. This combo always gives me that Damn Fine Shave.
Yes, I just got the .68 recently and this was my first shave with the .68.
I've previously shaved with the .84 SB, .84 OC and JAWS and think that they are all very good razors.
What I like about the .68 is that it is a nice, mellow razor. If you have mastered shaving with a Gillette Tech, using that same technique with the .68 will give you a very close, comfortable and smooth shave.
It does not mow down the stubble like the .84 OC and JAWS. The .68 is more of a finesse razor and I seem to be gravitating more toward finesse razors as I learn more about how I like to shave and what gives me the best and most comfortable results.

So this was my second shave with this Silver Blue and it was a little better than the first day. I tried two methods today to shave. The right side got my regular way of finding the angle where I start against the safety bar and tilt the razor out until it cuts. The left side got from the top cap and tilted down till it cut. Two observations for me were that the top cap starting method seemed to drag more, and made me go significantly slower (possibly more surface area in contact with my face), and the shave from both methods were a little better than the previous day, so the blade got a little better on second use. Still not a DFS though, but much closer, hence the upgrade from the other day from 5 to 6/10.
