What did Badger and Blade get you addicted to (other than razors)

I just thought of this, and I had to ask. Before going on here, I NEVER wore cologne. When I say never, I mean never. One time, and it was for a seventh grade school dance with my first girlfriend, and it's because my buddy dabbed some on me. I've always found the stuff disgusting and horrible and putrid. Well, that came from the overuse of Axe and super sporty scents that kill me. Heck, I didn't even know there was such a thing as Eau de Toilette, etc., until a few months ago! Well, Badger and Blade has really gotten me addicted to fragrance. I discovered AquaVelva by myself...well, my Dad saw it at Walmart when I was picking my first aftershave and he said his father had used it (so I had to get it). Then..I kept buying more and more  I've found the old school stuff does me well i.e. fougere's and tobacco scents. Anything aquatic and/or fruity and it's a no go.

So what about you? Was it the same for you as it was for me? Or was it skin care products or something like that that you NEVER used before?

Besides razors and soaps/creams (to a much lesser extent than some thanks to a limited budget). I guess pens and moving onto inks, though again limited thankfully. :) There isn't that much else that I am willing to try on the forums, as I don't like guns or killing myself and others with smoking, so I avoid that.

As for fragrances and stuff, I live in a hot place and seriously cannot see using them. Soap and stuff is okay because it gives such a minor one that really only I can smell it, but cologne and stuff? I cannot imagine using, nor would I want to do so. That is one AD I simply do not understand, nor wish too. I also cannot buy something advertised for toilets (Eau de Toilette, I know I know).

Ah, just thought of another. With this site and Artofmanliness.com - I have gotten addicted to watching people, and finding those who either seem to follow the same (caught a few guys at school with handle-bar mustaches), or just seem to act a bit more towards a higher standard than the usual. And last but not least, thanks to some pics last week or so.. I have had a tremendous hankering for a nice manly hat. :euro:

and I gladly admit I'm addicted...I have PD (posting disorder)!!! :lol1:

Some of the symptoms for this Disorder are as such;

1. You check B & B before you check your e-mail.

2. You're in the middle of something at work...but have to check / post on B & B.

3. When your significate other asks you, "What 'cha doing on the computer"? You inadvertently answer that you're 'talking' to the guys & gals on B & B.

4. You no longer have any notion of time spent on B & B.

5. You check-out B & B for the latest...every hour or so...everyday.

6. You want / like to beat-out our other members and be one of the ten (or less), to post first because you don't want to be the 'odd' person out.

7. You 'save' your your conceptional thoughts (opinions, replies, reconmendation ect...), to a Word document because you haven't the time right then (or you let the Thread 'mature'), then to finish and post.

PS Although, you may not be PD additted yet (I think I'm holding up fairly well...with a few exceptions and am doomed perhaps :lol1:), because at times..."Resistance is futile".

The Lather Maestro
I got over the soap/razor/cream thing and I'm just working through my remaining stuff and will get it down to 4-6 lather products.

I got a fountain pen and would have stopped at one, but wanted a finer point. Got two. Done. I don't have enough interest to collect more, really. I have two inks, a black and a blue. No, three, I have green, too.

I started smoking a pipe again, but just got one more new pipe, relatively inexpensive as pipes go. I have some older ones and like corn cobs, so I'm probably done there, too. I bought a lot of tobacco, but like with lathers, it was more to sample. I'll end up with about 4, I think.

I don't get addicted to the stuff here, I guess. But I do understand it. I'm a gun collector. Now THAT'S and AD! But the stuff around here is utilitarian to me, I don't need much more than I can use. With guns, I'll get one, well, just because.

You sound like a prime candidate for the Great Outdoors.

Aftershaves, EDTs, soaps/creams, razors, and now straight razors.
Although I have eased up on de shaving, I now only have one DE razor. And I no longer HAVE to buy more soaps and creams. But I still want more brushes and straights. And I want to get into honing/stropping my own razors.
Oh, I also suffer from PD.

Biggest AD is the site itself.

I'm addicted to the sense of sharing, community and often extraordinary generosity present on these boards. It's the single most self-moderating and respectful board I subscribe to by a large margin. Something about this place just allows us to check most of our biases...and egos...at the door.

For me, B&B got me into aftershaves. I had used Lagerfeld AS for over 20 years, and had never considered anything else. Now it's Floid, Tabac, and Proraso AS's. Love that European Barbershop scent.

B&B definitely got me hooked on AS. I didn't hardly even use AS before, and now I use it just about every day, and I have about 4 that I rotate with.
