What's new

What are your Shaving Tools?

Well folks, what's your shaving tools?

I've made the order, and very soon I'll have my new:

Merkur HD
Rooney Silvertip Small Brush
TOBS Avocado Cream
Tabac Soap

Not sure on what after-shave I will be using, perhaps my current Nivea (which I use with my Gillette Fusion that will be replaced soon).

I also use a Nivea Face Scrub if that matters.

Welcome to B&B, a lot of us have our own user pages in the B&B Wiki which includes our Shave Den Tool of the trade.

Well, I'm new too. Still working my way to the DE (thinking Merkur Futur, sure looks good!).

For now I'm using a Bump Fighter handle with Personna Twin II's, C&E Best Badger w/ KMF, Williams or a couple soaps I got on the 'Bay from Nana June. AS are Clubman, Aqua Vela and AV Musk. Also have ordered a C&E travel brush. Have a few mugs for lather that I picked up at the local Salvation Army Thrift Store .

If you've got Tabac soap ... get Tabac cream and ASL as well. Nothing goes better with Tabac except more Tabac.

Do you guys use only one Aftershave, or do you use a ASL (the liquid alcohol stuff, such as GFT Skin Food) and ASB together?

Well I'm not particularely sure if I'll be sticking to the Tabac or TOBS Cream, I'm going to experiment and see if I prefer a shaving cream or shaving soap (from what I've heard, the shaving cream feels better, while the shaving soap shaves better).

I've heard good stuff about the Geo F. Trumper's Skin Food ASL, is it any good or simply overrated? The Proraso ASB also seems good and similar to the Nivea one I have.

Though it's quite confusing. Under "Reviews", there is a section for Colognes, as well as AfterShaves, though I always thought that those Colognes they mention were aftershaves!

Here is my current rotation:

-Razors: 40's style Superspeed-Red Tip Superspeed-"Lord Merkur Tech"
-Brushes: Penworks 22mm Finest Badger-Omega 49 Boar
-Soaps: VDH Deluxe-P160-Tabac
-Creams: Real Shaving Sensitive-C.O. Bigelow
-Blades: Derby/ Blade Sampler
-Aftershave: C.O. Bigelow Exlir Red ASB/ Gillette Fusion ASB

Note, that this is the products I have decided to currently use to get a better feel for them.

I own about 12 razors, and have 5-6 additional shaving creams I am not using. I also have about 5-6 Aftershaves I am not currently using.

I went a little nuts on acquiring things as there as so many wonderful choices.

I use both, each and every shave.

I apply ASL to a wet face, let it air dry while I clean up and put away my shave gear. Sometimes I do a second coat of ASL, if its a particularly good one like Tabac or Floid or Musgo. I also like to rub it around the back of my neck and up over the the back of my ears, too.

After the ASL dries, then I put on ASB with wet hands.
