Gave Weller 12 another shot. Little splash of water helped mellow that sharp grassiness, which I’m guessing is oak due to the extended barrel time. Jury’s still out.
The Oreo's were a nice pairing with BT mash bill #2, so I decided to give them a taste along side mash bill #1. They really do enhance the vanilla flavor in the bourbon. Certainly not something I'll do on a frequent basis, but when the mood hits it really is a fun pairing
Water
Lots of it
It’s 79° right now but feels like 87° because of 89% humidity!
High today is 104° with a heat index of 112°.
Yesterday it hit 118° at the ranch.
So I hate to say it but it’s just too hot to drink alcohol!
Water and some G2 Gatorade is all for me!
For now
I’ve been on the Old Fashioneds of late - nothing fancy, just Jim Beam, Angostura bitters, sugar, and garnish.
I’m keeping a very close eye on this looming trade war between the US and EU - the EU is threatening sanctions on various American products including bourbon, so I am stockpiling supplies for the Bourbonocolypse.
fancy wild turkey, revival.
smokey, a bit of tobacco, lots of caramel.
nice, but for $, i'd still prefer blanton's.
or, maybe, i need to reflect a while longer!
Had a buffalo trace after my birthday meal earlier tonight. Making my way through a woodford reserve to wind down now. Picked up a bottle of Old Weller antique 107 as my special occasion bourbon that I'm looking forward to trying too.
