well got my r41 today and not at all happy with it.

ordered the newer r41 and got it today VERY quickly from shaving.ie which was AWESOME it was amazingly fast. but the top plate has some bad flaws. two of the four corners are actually almost flattened like and there is already some plate missing clearly on one of them. you can actually see from the underside of the top plate where the corners that are "flat" are pointed down and can clearly feel them with your fingernail it can catch them very easily. i know ordering from outside of the usa costs less but for near 50$ it should imo not look like this. the fatip i got also has its flaws but i knew that before ordering that razor. i did not expect this from a r41. does anyone else have this issue?? i sent chris a message and i REALLY hope i can get this resolved and it doesnt in the end cost me more than i could have just spent buying in the usa which would make returns easy. im hoping this is not something normal. 2 corners are perfectly sharp and square the other 2 you can easily tell look to be from the top view almost cut off in a way but when you look at it from the bottom you can see they are bent down slightly and can feel them..

i so wanted to use this razor this weel and now i am just let down by the quality and bummed. please know i do not meant this to sound like im knocking shaving.ie. i just sent them the message explaining and i REALLY hope they take care of it. was going away this coming week and planned to take this with me along with my ej89

Sorry to hear, the one I got from WCS was flawless. Hope all gets resolved for you. It's a great shaving razor IMO.
 
yeah i do to all i have read about chris has been really great feedback so im hoping going in he can take care of it somehow. its only the top plate to the rest looks perfect. handle and all is almost flawless. but this one will get tossed in a drawer if i cant get something done with it though since im just bummed about the quality. i get annoyed easily about things like this and dont think it should look like this for what they cost. i know its not a 200$ razor but still.

hopefully he will take care of this because i planned on ordering a number of other things from him in the near future.

i dont have any really good cameras but this is a representation of what it looks like and those 2 "cut off" corners are not cut off they are bent down slightly which is what makes them look this way i think and one has a very small chrome chip you can see.

Probably someone dropped the cap?
 
not sure but it was clear as soon as i looked at it but not until i removed it from the box. in the box you could not tell. im surprised someone would have packed it this way at muhler honestly. evem if i could just get a top plate for the by itself i would be happy sine the rest looks perfect, thing is a got the 2013 model which is what i hoped for and i dont want to get a older top plate

again i dont want to sound like im bashing shaving.ie here. everything else on my order which was for 5 items was perfect except this one.and if chris takes care of this i will only have the highest of praise for him here.

on a side note i am SO glad i went with the grande i love the size of the handle. i would not have been happy with the normal one now that i see this one.

chris is hopefully working out a solution. please dont think i was blaming him i LOVE everything else i got from him and have nothing but good things to say about everything else i received.

edit: chris is taking care of the issue. again can not say anything bad about them and hopefully all will go smoothly. he has been very good to deal with and very quick to respond to my questions.

it would be nice if this could be resolved with a photo sent to Muhle and a new cap sent to you.
 
he just wants me to send it back to him. honestly i would guess it was for sure this way before it was plated..im going to try to get some decent pics before mailing it so i have them also. i just dont have a very good camera for that kind of thing. there is also a issue i saw once inspecting it further with the bottom plate though. where one spot is on the top plate that is sharp and slightly bent downward it left a few marks in the chrome from it touching it. these would not be there if not for the bad top plate.

It has nothing to do with shaving.ie. it's just poor quality control. I had he same issue and had to exchange mine.
 
i never said it was shaving.ie's fault. skleice was yours through shaving.ie also? and it was exactly like this??
 
Mine was through Connaught, but it had some blemishes on the center of the head where it looked like the plating didn't really stick. There was also a noticeable rough patch on the handle.
 
Get some very good photos and contact Muhle directly to see if they will send you a replacement cap.

Tell them you have not used the razor and it was this way out of the box but the vender is overseas and you would rather they handle this obvious manufacturing error than to send the entire razor back to the vender who will return it to them for credit.

I am sure if you provided photos and a copy of your receipt showing you just bought it you will receive a replacement part, maybe even an entire new razor from them

I would advise against using the razor, no matter how tempting it is just to keep it as a new/unused razor with a manufacturing defect.
