What's new

Well Gents, What Do You Think?

I recently put up a poll asking whether I should re-plate this razor or just buff it and lacquer it. Everyone gave some really good insights into why either option would be a good move. I decided to just buff it and lacquer it. I stabilized the crack in the handle with a little silver solder, buffed the razor with Brasso, and lacquered it. I think it looks nice, and it will give me a chance to get to know this razor more without investing money in a re-plate. If for some reason I decide I want it re-plated in the future, the lacquer can be stripped off and the razor re-plated.

So gents, what do you think? I think it looks pretty handsome. It' has retained it's character, but it's protected against further tarnish and those green deposits that appear on brass when it's exposed to water.

It definitely looks nice! I don't know about lacquer durability.

I sent mine off to RestoredRazors today for gold replating.

The lacquer is the same stuff we use on brass instruments in the repair shop at work. It's pretty tough stuff.
