What's new

Wee Scot

I've always liked the look of the Simpson's Wee Scot, but never felt the need for anything that small - I do travel quite a lot, but I always have room for a full-sized brush.

But I recently couldn't resist a lovely little travel razor - the kind with a two-part handle in a small square box. And I decided to put together the smallest travel set I could - just for fun.

So I ordered a Wee Scot in Best, and it arrived today.

Now, I knew its measurements, but you can't really appreciate just how small it is until you get it in your hands! But even though it's tiny, it feels really good in the hand (or, I should say, between the fingers).

I've given it a few test lathers (didn't need to shave today) and it had the worst funk of any brush I've encountered so far - little brush, big stink. But it only took a few latherings to get most of it out.

But what I find really hard to believe - how such a tiny brush can make so much lather! It's terrific! I already liked Simpson's Best hair - but this little knot is amazing :001_smile

It is a little lather monster. I found it would not retain enough for 4 full passes but it was spot on for a 3 pass shave.

I traveled with mine in a plastic tube

Ended up using the Case brush and the Duke 1 more for traveling so finally sold my little wee scot

Heres mine loaded with some Arlington while traveling -- plenty for a nice 3 pass shave. I also used it this morning with a Speick stick at home, coincidentally.

It is really impossible to comprehend how small it is with pictures. I tried one for a few days, and I was impressed. But I'm so in love with my Semogue 620 that I really don't need another brush. It's going on 3 years with the Semogue. But that Wee Scott is no toy, even though it looks like one.

Here's a couple of photos of the travel razor and the Wee Scot. The razor has no maker's name, just "Made in Germany", but it seems to be well constructed. I won't be using the vintage "Star" blade!

The Case looks HUGE in this picture by comparison. I just bought one for use as a travel brush and couldn't believe how small it was when I slid it out of the tube.

I shaved with the Wee Scot today, and I was very impressed with it - it's not a novelty item at all, but a serious brush that holds a surprising amount of lather.
