There will be many that disagree but 4/8 is just not as popular as the bigger blades. His price does seem on the low side for a TI but not uncomfortably low to still be legitimite. If you want a smaller blade it looks like a decent deal for a new TI.

That 1/8" is bigger than you'd think. Some folks measure in 1/16ths.

A 4/8" is a pretty small razor.

4/8 is small but it is my weapon of choice. I love all the sizes but I find the little guy to be most enjoyable.

4/8 is my favorite size, that's why the razor appeals to me.

I was hoping for responses from people who have actually tried the razor out, or have bought from the vendor.

I read one review on the site (for another razor), where the guy said he received a warped blade :thumbdown If the vendor is willing to refund my money though, then that would make up for it, but right now I'm a little scared to buy from them.

I bought a TI Dos Festonné from knifecentre and it didn't have any issues with the scales like I have seen mentioned in the reviews. Mine also had jimps in the thumbnotch, which surprised me because I hadn't seen any with jimps in the thumbnotch in any photos. I thought the price was very good and shipping was fast but a little on the expensive side. I think they charged $30 to ship to Canada...which is a bit too much but then I saw they shipped it in a box big enough to send 100 razors...

You can get that razor at rasagepoulin for $119 but with free shipping and you could get it honed for $17cdn.

I currently have 1 4/8 in my rotation. I keep it to remind me that a small blade can do the work that big blades do. You have to remember that a sharp edge will cut the whiskers regardless of the size. However, I do not find it to be as good as my bigger 6/8 and 7/8 razors. With a bigger razor, I get a good result with less efforts.

Having said all of that. I want to keep my 4/8 as I think that I can get the challenge of get an as good shave than my big blades.

If I have to pick, I have preferences on what I buy, and I find 4/8 to be too small. I did buy a few 5/8 lately but I usually only consider 6/8, 13/16 and 7/8...

My Aesculap is a 4/8 razor. It shaves very well. I think the size of the blade makes it a bit more manageable (not that I can't handle a larger blade).

Thanks for the info. I checked poulin's website and he does indeed have the razor! I rather buy from him since he's a B&B vendor. I already emailed him with a few questions. I wonder what the exchange rate is. Hopefully the Canadian dollar is weaker!

Canadian is about equal to USD right now. Actually thats one reason I was buying a lot lately, have to take advantage of strong Canadian $.

I have a 4/8th Friodur. It was labelled on ebay as 5/8th but it is definately shorter than 5/8th and I'm not sure if it was originally 5/8th or its 4/8th but 6/8" blades seem perfect for me and I don't like smaller than 5/8".
That 1/8" is a lot because the spine and tang have to be a lot thicker and that adds a lot more weight to the blade.

Also, I don't think knifecenter hones the razors so it wouldn't be shave ready. In that case, if you can't hone, you would have to pay someone to hone it for you, which would add about $20 to the final price you will pay for it.

Most places that cater directly to wetshavers will include a honing in the price of the razor(or at least the places I buy from do.)
