Vented travel brush container...

I read somewhere on a thread about what to use to keep your precious hand-made silvertip badger brush safe in your Dopp kit while traveling. There were lots of suggestions, from just tossing the sucker in your bag to a miniature Pelican attache` case (Just kidding about the Pelican ).

So anyway, one of the suggestions was to buy a cheap bottle of some sort of spice, because the cap already has holes in it it. I live 30 miles from town, and when I do get to town I usually have other things I'm thinking about. So I was in town tonight, and decided to go to the dollar store. A bottle of chopped dehydrated onion came home with me. I dumped the contents in a larger bottle we already had, sloshed out the inside with dish soap and hot water, and soaked off the label. When the bottle was rinsed and had a chance to dry, both my silvertip "travel brush" and my monster 24mm best badger fit in the bottle (one at a time, of course). Perfect!

I cut the flap over the part of the lid with the holes off, and voila`, a vented travel brush container...

Many thanks to whoever ventured this suggestion...

Plastic. I was afraid glass might get crunched by the baggage gorillas at the airport somehow...

No offense intended, of course...

Thank you for the tip. I travel about 18 weeks a year and am always looking for good ideas.

Nope. Never even thought of that. Perhaps this evening, if it doesn't slip my tiny little mind...

Great idea but do how do you get rid of the onion scent?

I used Dawn anti-bacterial dish soap and hot water, did some serious sloshing, and now it's sitting out in the open air. After I first washed it I couldn't detect any lingering essence of onion, but I haven't sniffed lately. I suppose I should check it again tonight after work, just in case it needs a blast of Lysol or some such. Or possibly some of my bowhunting scent killer...

I've made this suggestion once or twice (not sure if I suggested it to the OP, could be I suppose), when I did it I got a container of cinnamon. The container still hasn't fully lost the scent of the spice, but that's OK since it's always a nice odor.
