Use Multiple Times or Throw Away after 1 use Poll?

I throw away my blades after one use. However, I also shave my head and do a WTG/XTG/ATG with every shave.

So, I was wondering what % of us throw away a blade after one use vs use them multiple times.

I think even if I didn't shave my head, I'd toss after a single use. With prices as low as 10 cents per blade, why not have the most comfort possible? I even tossed my Feathers which are double that price.

However, I only shave about 3 times per week.

I paid $12/100 Astra SP's. That's 12 cents each. At 3 per week times 4 weeks, I'm spending $1.44/mo in blades.

When using the Gillette Proglide I was going through an average of 4 cartridges per month. Even with good deals, the best I've ever found was $3.50 per cartridge. That's $14 per month.

So, the way I look at it, I'm still spending nearly 10x less each month in blades using a BRAND new blade each and every time.

I only shave my cheeks and neck as I have a goatee, and I use a blade three or four times. Since you shave your face and head, it's not a bad idea to use a new blade every time.

I didn't mean to come across like a jerk. If you guys can get comfortable shaves multiple times from one blade, I'm jealous! I have somewhat sensitive skin. If I use a blade more than once I tend to get razor burn on my neck.

This is my routine as well......I hate it when I have to agree with another Mod.

No need to apologize! Again ... it's your shave, and your skin ... don't feel bad because you toss the blade after one shave! Compared to the average cartridge shaver, your way of shaving likely still is more environment friendly!

You didn't, it is a valid question.

I use a blade until it tells me it wants to take the long trip down the dark wall slot to join all its other spent friends.

This can be anywhere from 3 to as many as 15 shaves. Very rarely I will come across a blade that defies death and I keep using it until it says it is time to go. The last one that fit in that category is still going strong after 105 shaves (No, that is not a typo... one hundred and five shaves)

I keep shaving with a blade until it starts to feel uncomfortable. Once this happens I don't complete the shave with that blade but simply reach for another blade loaded razor on the shelf in front of me.

I'm with you -- what price comfort? But, having said that, I find that with some blades my 2nd or 3rd shave is more comfortable than the first. Someday I'll ask a metallurgist why . . .

I use blades 2-3 times, then throw them away. I use the same logic you do - the blades are so cheap I don't even want to risk a bad shave - but I don't know any good blade that isn't just as good on the third shave as on the first. At this point, I'm down to using only Astras and Crystals.

I use them for 7, two pass shaves and then i toss them. Still sharp and smooth. The blades i use are: Perma-Sharp Super, Astra Superior Platinum, PolSilver Super Iridium and Personna Lab Blue.
