Unsubstantiated Claims - Method Shaving

I know some people really benefit from Method Shaving -and I'm not discounting the product - but upon reading this article, Charles (the inventor of Method Shaving) makes some pretty remarkable claims; none of which are backed up by facts.

1) "American single blade shaving only took off with the advent of Method Shaving at the end of the 1990s."

2) "When I started teaching single blade shaving many years ago, I don’t believe that there were 100 dedicated open blade shavers in the entire country."

3) "Merkur DE razors are also unsuited for use with traditional paste creams like Trumpers or D.R. Harris. "

4) "Right now, the practice of wet shaving in the U.S. is divided into two distinct segments: single blade shavers and multi-blade. The first group generally use my HydroLast “wet mix” system; the second group uses “dry” paste media, most of which presently comes from England."

This is precisely what turns many potential customers off MS. Its spruikster is one of history's most creative revisionists.

It may be a great method and products, but Charles talks himself out of sales every time he talks or writes anything down. He should sit back, let Chuck Norris do it, and count the cash on a beach somewhere.

From my own personal experiences, in person, Charles has always been kind, helpful, and generous. Many of his products are very good though some are average to bad. His writing, however, has always been a source of contention. Nobody is perfect, I guess.

He's a nice guy, in a certain sense. He definitely loves nothing more than teaching people about shaving, and that does kind of extend to products that aren't his own. The problem is just that he's an archetypal true believer; he's firmly convinced that he has invented what is literally the best way to shave that is possible with current technology, and is probably fairly confused as to why the rest of us don't agree.

Me? I just sit back and thank God that the guy didn't go into politics or religion!

That's exactly what I thought!

If Charles is the little red shaving devil on your left shoulder, then Austin is the little white shaving angel who's off in a corner looking dapper and chatting up a pretty girl.

EDIT: For the record, I like Charles a great deal and enjoy shopping with him. He is a bit much sometimes, but never more than I can handle. A really nice guy...

I think the Method users are pretty slim these days. Anyway, it seemed that many of the threads eventually just became Charles bashing and most likely got disappeareded.
