Tying my shoes wrong and a shaving aha moment

I came across this video again on how to tie your shoes posted on TED. I have had a cold and had lots of internet time...

I also too realized I had been tying my shoes wrong; something I had done for 27ish years. I had the same moment in shaving when I had realized I did not have to shave up and down or right to left. I know it sounds stupid but I learned here by going WTG, XTG and ATG and never thought much of it until one day I mixed it up. I got so much better shaves after that and it was so simple.

What is your seemingly obvious aha moment someone might learn from?

Pumping/pushing/plunging the brush to mix air in with the later. Makes it much more creamy vs soapy. I can get the cool whip effect with the right cream (like Kiss My Face) now. Got it from the Shaveology YouTube video last week :)

What a great moment! For my entire life I thought my mom had taught me wrong. Now I know she taught me the strong form of the knot!

My aha moment in shaving took place right after college when I got my own apartment and realized I could place a small mirror in the shower. Showering and shaving became interwoven, a single thing, and I never looked back. I still marvel at the luxury of it all.

Changed my life!

Tried the suggested shoe tie technique this morning and all day the knot stayed in place. To think I have been doing it wrong for almost 60 years. So far Badger and Blade has taught me DE shaving as a manly art, use (and love) fountain pens, and now a better way to tie my shoes! Also, I have been improving my dress at work and have begun wearing fedora hats.

Better late than never!

that's the same as tying a granny knot vs a square knot...the square knot is stronger but you have to invert the cross-over when you tie the second half. I never really noticed before but tying your shoes is just a square knot with quick release loops. It seems most people tie the granny knot version since its natural to always cross the strings over the same way each time.

I will give this method a try--if I can figure it out. :001_rolle Either way, I am not wearing those round waxy shoe strings. I replace them ASAP, every time. I hate those strings.

I've told a number of people about this since I've learned this a few years back, and most give you that crazy look similar to when describing DE as a hobby.....:out:
