My quick review of the leaf shave 3 blade for face and head shaving.

FIrstly I will say I hate shaving, despite liking to be groomed and well presented, I'd rather never have to shave. I shave my head when I shave my face. I don't want to spend 30 mins plus a day shaving. if i could justify the stupid expensive and poor longevity of triple carts I would use them as i can shave very quickly and knick free.

Condisered a Leaf for a long time, didn't initially find the look appealing. Watched loads of YT videos and got massively put off by statements such as No good for face, clogs, too big, can't shave under nose, slipperly, fragile, must use a Twig or Thorn for face.

I had chatted with Adam from Leaf, he was very responsive and helpful in replying to my questions.

Decided to try one knowing I could return it if I hated it. Picked a Prism finish one. Despite a good price, and a discount code, delivery was a nightmare.

It arrives nicely packaged, in eco friendly packing. It looks amazing, the Prism finish is great!

The size of handle; next to a wilkson 3 blade/mach3 is approx 1cm longer. Not a bit deal at all.

Blade loading is easy helped by the magnetised base. First shave with just sensitive foam nothing fancy, 4 days of beard. Absolutley no issues at all, shave as you would imagine a cart to shave. feels a little weird after using fixed head blades, but even cautiously it was fast. Shaving around nose is no issue at all, if you can shave around your ear you can shave around your nose. WTG?AGT/XTG, no fuss, no clogs, no knicks, BBS without issue. Nice!

Cleaning it is easy too, good rinse shake dry, holding head rigid, pat dry, and air dry. Opened up to check residue and its 99% clear.

Shaving on a days growth, fast, easy no drama. I have not had an issue with the handle slipping, although it could be more knurled, no reason for it not to be. The leaf blades are ok as far as I am concerned, maybe they could be considered too mild for some?

Observations: it can drag/stick when shaving if you do not have soap on the skin. It can flap about when rinsing in the sink water. The first blade is the most aggressive, getting the correct angle does make a difference. The screw could be sturdier, its my only niggle really, but then it does come with a lifetime warranty, providing Leaf stay in business. How chubby faced Youtubers fail at getting a good face shave is beyond me, I have a farily angular chiselled face and its fine, if my face was as round as my head i imagine shaving would be easier!?

I would recommend this to anyone. Doubt I will use my DEs and carts again. You can totally use it to shave your face sucessfully to a good BBS shave. Best Razor I have owned.

Nice review. My only concern is the one you shared about the screw and the longevity of the razor. I found that just two blades was good enough for me doing two or three passes. I also experience no issues with clogging that I can recall, but I wouldn't grab it for four days worth of growth.

I prefer the single blade Leaf Twig because of the smaller head and more robust design. Both are fine razors. Since I grew a large anchor beard I haven't touched the 3 bladed Leaf but use the Twig often.

Thank you

Yes, the screw does worry me, but then I am not an engineer so I suspect it will be fine!

Tbh I would just normally rip off longer growth with my merkur 34 WTG then go AGT and XTG with a cart. But as I say I am a lazy shaver and I want to test the Leaf.
I have just had a Merkur Futur rot!, so was considering getting a Twig to replace my 34 however this Leaf is proving good for me.

How long did it last? I'm just curious. I have an alloy tech from 1970 that still looks new though with probably very little use and a cheap Chinese razor that's seen a fair bit of use but no signs of rot. I've read that Merkur had some plating issues.

It was a about 4 years old. But its been used less than 30 times, as I never really took to it, its always been dried and dry stored when not in use.
Merkur did actually sent me a brand new one, but I'll be selling that. Yes, definately an issue with plating. pathetic when you consider the cost.

I'd add to my review that if you in the UK buying leaf products, Be aware that not all the authorised sellers are in the UK despite claiming they are Uk based.

I've only used my Leaf for head shaves. It works very well and is definitely an autopilot shave, though I seem to get a bit closer to BBS with both my Shield Predator and Vector. Still, I do use the Leaf occasionally when I want a quick and easy head shave.

Agree that the handle can is slippery. I ended up buying two of the rubber sleeves from Leaf (gotta have a backup) and it works great.
