So, the TTO does work. When it is tightened down, to hold a blade, it holds firm and can not be moved. But, the end of the handle slips up and down.

Can this be fixed?
Is it worth trying?
And, if you feel like making another suggestion:
Would you send this back?

Thank You Very Much for your input.

If it was advertised as good working condition you might think about sending it back and trying another. It's an early one though (looking at the neck).

Alex, Thank You for finding that 4 year old thread...:thumbup1:....I did my own search, about TTO, awhile back, learned a lot, but, did not find the thread you linked.

I need to read and re read that, And, probably look at onotoman's pics that are x ed out in that thread.

Again, this board is quite the library!!

Thanks Doug......Yeah, No numbers or letters for dating, and, it's my first gold SS, and I love the SS........

If it's gold plated then you have a 1947 Milord. If it is nickel plated, it's a 1947 Super Speed. Congrats either way.

Well, it's definitely gold plated, that's why I bid on it. Thanks for pointing me to the 47' Milords.

I'll let you know how it comes out.

^Don't know exactly what your question is about, but, I thought I had bought a Milord. When I got it, saw the handle was just-like SS, so, didn't know that Milord had that handle for some of the models.......So, it ended up being what I had hoped, but, also in worse shape then advertised.

I haven't tried the hose clamp idea yet, but will let you know when I do.

Thanks again for All the help.

I did not have a question, i was waiting for this from you the outcome...... "I'll let you know how it comes out."

:001_rolle Thanks. I thought I had a small hose clamp, but, can't find it....so, gotta' get to the hardware store.....

This worked like a charm! I could have used a smaller hose clamp, and I did use insulated wire, as was suggested in that other thread. When I finished I was concerned about the gap when working the TTO, then checked my other SS and saw that there is a slight gap in them when working the mechanism....that's why I put the SS in the pic.

Thanks for the help. Hope this helps others in the future.

I was suprised how easy it was. I was cautious about tightening too much, so, I went slow and figured that if I didn't tighten enough I could just re-do the process till it held.....But, it worked on my first try.
