Tsd shaving cream

I'm new to DE shaving after many years of using cartridges. I just bought a nice 1960 Gillette Super Speed razor and some Shark, Derby and Gillette 7 o'clock blades for experimenting. I also bought a bowl of TSD Shaving Cream (sensitive-unscented) from The Shaving Den. It will probably be a week until everything comes in the mail. Does anyone have any experience with the TSD cream? Is it a good quality cream, slick and protective against cuts and burn? I would appreciate any comments. Also, can you apply it with your hand, or is a brush better? I'm currently using King of Shaves Gel which works great with my cartridge razor, but I thought it might better to use a cream with my new DE. I steered away from Taylor Sandalwood because I've seen lots of comments about it's overpowering smell, and Geo F Trump is too pricey for me. High slickness and protection is important to me because I have a coarse beard and sensitive skin prone to cuts. Did I make the right decision? Also, has anyone ever tried Nutragena Tube Shave Cream? I see it everywhere in local stores and wondered how it may stack up to more pricey brands? Thanks!

TSD creams creams I tried were only so-so I thought. It will do you ok, though. I would definetely use it with a brush, but i'm not sure that it is entirely neccessary. Not sure about the Nivea either, but there are some inexpensive brands out there that are nice. Arko, Lea, Godrej, Erasmic, Ingram, Kiss My Face, etc... can all be found for about $5 or less. The KMF can even be found at Whole Foods stores locally in most places.

. I would definitely use it with a brush, but i'm not sure that it is entirely necessary.

I am pretty sure, it was designed to be used with a brush, and hence the most optimal results will be achieved by using it as intended with a brush.

While some creams designed to be used with a brush, may lather without one, the results are not going to be optimal. You will likely end up using far more product using the brushless method as well.

Make sure you buy yourself a brush as soon as possible, as using a brush is one of the most enjoyable parts of wet shaving.
