TP Gem Coated Stainless vs Gem Stainless

A fellow member was nice enough to send me several Ted Peller Gem coated stainless steel blades which I have been using and find them excellent. But the Walgreen Gem stainless shave just as good.

How does the coating improve the blades?

In theory, by reducing friction and drag as you shave. YMMV and if the uncoated blades work for you, lucky you!

If you want, continue to try different blades and report on what you find.

So far without a doubt the Gem stainless are the best. I tried and reviewed the Hannaford house brand which are made in Korea. Also stainless they are the absolute worst. I tried the CVS house brand which are Gems but I don't think stainless. They are pretty good and I didn't have any rusting. I have not tried the Treets but suspect are good but made of carbon steel so prone to quick dulling. Obviously much less choice with single edge as apposed to double edge.

No Rite Aids in Fl they all converted to CVS and they sell their own brand maybe Treets as I think there carbon not stainless. I have them not a bad blade but nothing like the TP coated.
