Is there any difference in shave quality between the creams other than scent?
I've seen a few posts praising avocado but are the others just as good

the avacado has avacado in it, so its slightly better (some say), it at least has different ingredients.

that said, the other tobs creams are fantastic

Note that it is Avocado Oil and not the actualy avocado.

Some say the different creams are slightly different, some are more airy, some or more dense, some need more/less water.

Looks like avocado is my next purchase then I will just buy whatever scent I fancy after that

TOBS is goood for you, no matter what!:001_rolle

It IS true that the Avocado has avocado oil in it, hence the better skin healing/moisturizing properties... This just makes the Avocado EVEN BETTER, way above the others to me.

Anyway, any scent will do you: you MUST try the Rose (had a sample once, next on my list!), I like the Mr Taylor's and many report good things on the Sandalwood. Oh, and ask guenron on the Shaving Shop...!! Well, you get the point: HOARD!!! You know you want some TOBS.:lol::lol:

Seriously, this whole thing about density, less/more water in the mix and everything has strictly NOTHING to do with the scent you'll choose. It is reported to be about Taylor's QC issues and most certainly storage/shipping conditions. Some are very dense/pasty, others are runny/almost creamy. The thickness is not related to the scent and does NOT affect the quality of the shave.:001_tt1::thumbup:

Besides, did anyone mention the bargain!?:w00t:
Hope I've been helpful. Me loves me some TOBS anyway!!

Enjoy!!

Yes, the others are just as good, and yes the avocado is a little bit better. :001_rolle

(Yeah, like that makes sense. Get the avocado, and that'll be your gateway drug into the others.)

I have tried TOBS rose and lavender so far and I can't decide which one I like more. They both lather up so well I guess it would depend on your personal preference on scent. I would recommend one of these two, or both.

I've heard the TOBS Avocado smells sort of grassy and bright, can anyone else who has used it explain how it smells. I mean, I doubt it smells like guacamole! haha

Also, how has everyone liked their Almond shave cream who has tried it?

I have the St James and use it as my main shaving cream. Performance-wise it's great. The scent is nice, but it's nothing I would rave about. I've also used a sample of the lemon-lime, which I probably would not buy. I'm looking forward to trying the avocado, lavender or rose based on reviews here. The Mr Taylor also sounds like it might be nice. I'm tempted to try the sampler from Shaving Essentials, but I think I'd rather just get a tub of one of the flavors I'm really interested in trying. Any suggestions?

Hi there!

Well, you kinda pointed it out quite well yourself. I would sometimes actually add hints of Lilly of the valley but that's personnal.

It smells really nice, clean, green and YES: fresh!! Try it!!

All I have to do is look into the tub to see the difference of the avocado cream. Its more dense and seems to give more shaves for a given amount. Its not green and has a unique scent. Avocado oil is an ingredient, as others have said.

I have the Eton College but also got a free sample of the St James. Eton is the more understated of the two in terms of scent. While both seem to be cologne scented the Eton is lighter and to me has some subtle pine characteristics. It's not especially strong but for me is perfect because I have allergies and often cannot handle stronger scented fragrances. Both creams are top notch and while there might be some creams that are better I can't see paying double the price for them. I'm very happy with the TOBS and have even placed an order for the Rose - can't wait for that to arrive.
