TOBS Wow! And Question

Had my first TOBS experience recently and am VERY impressed with the the lather quality, density and slickness. I'm probably going to PIF my 15 or so other creams and soaps. Excellent stuff.

Question - do all the creams perform the same? Are the only differences the scent? I'm using St. James now. I don't really care about scent in a cream or soap.

Thanks

I used the Lime and Jermyn Street samples and was quite impressed with the fragrance and performance. They performed the same in my experience.

TOBS and AOS are just about my favorite shaving creams. I may actually give a slight nod to TOBS over AOS.

To my experience trying 10 or so TOBS scents, yes they perform the same. However, I have heard that the avocado scent does perform better due to the presence of avocado oil in it. I cannot attest to this since I only had a sample of it and that is not a good way to test a product, only to try the scent.

I have Sandalwood and Eton. They lather the same but the Eton scent isn't as strong as Sandalwood.

I am a recent convert to TOBS creams, I like the scent of their Sandalwood cream.
For lighter scents try either their Mr Taylor or Jermyn St.
They all seem to produce a rich lather from a small amount of cream.

I've tried the Sandalwood, Grapefruit, and Avocado.. I feel the Avocado is the slickest of the 3. The other two perform similarly though the sandalwood is a thicker cream.

I don't know why, but the Avocado does do a great job!

I have the Eton, Coconut and the Grapefruit. I find they all perform excellent, it's just which scent I'm in the mood for.

I have probably 5 or 6 and they seem to all perform the same for me. The grapefruit is amazing!

I 2nd this!! I tried the grapefruit for the 1st time tonight and it was AMAZING!!!! Tons of slick lather and amazing scent.
I may just be one of my favorite creams!

Does the avocado smell like avocado?

I mean, I love avocados and all, but I'm not sure that's a scent I'd like to slap on my face with a brush.

i'll echo everyone else. they're all good performers, giving you a ton of lather with just a little cream. as long as you like the scent, you can't lose. a great, reliable gateway cream. avocado leaves your skin feeling wonderful and it's amazing the way the grapefruit really does smell like fresh-cut grapefruit!

Yes. I compared a real freshly cut avocado with the lather and they smell remarkably similar. It does not smell guacamole-y, just kind of earth-y. Overall it's very nice in my opinion. I ordered the TOBS sample pack from Garry's Sample shop and am happy I did so I can smell all the different scents rather cheaply.

I get no distinct avocado. Smells of sweet, clean, grassy goodness. I would never guess avocado. Excellent cream BTW.

Me neither. Maybe an unripe one, but I find it closer to cucumber.

I have been using it a lot lately. Great performance and subtle fresh scent.

Yep. Avocado smells like a 50/50 mixture of freshly cut grass & cucumber/melon.
I agree it does seem slightly slicker than the other TOBS creams I've tried & also moisturizes really well.

The only WOW factor TOBS has is the scents, there are some really nice scents and I agree the Avocado slightly out performs the others in the line. The simple fact is there are many more protective and moistureizing soaps out there for the same, more and even less money. Ex: Razorock XX, Panna Crema, Stroppe shoppe special edition with talow, Tabac, Mike's, Sterling. If you enjoy the scents certainly use TOBS but the perception does not equal the true performance.
