What's new

First time with a menthol cream - wow!

I dont use it as much anymore, since I moved over to English soaps. But it is still a treat to pull out my bowl of Proraso Green for a shave. Been using it for my DE shaves as of late. Always a treat to enter the bathroom the next day, and still smell the menthol!
Haha.

I've also got a tube of Depot No. 404 shaving cream. It contains menthol, but to be honest I can't recall picking up any scent from it, so it ain't one I'd recommend. (I got it for free, from my regular shop)

Gonna have to try the other soaps mentioned here, one day, I think. 🧐

Thats unfortunate about the Depot cream..!!

DO consider LORDS Menthol cream made in Egypt.. you can grab 12 tubes of it for 48$ on Ebay! So affordable and a quality menthol cream!

There are some good creams from LEA of Spain. The menthol level is moderate. The classic cream has a sandalwood and moss scent. Edit: looks like someone beat me to it!

Seconding NortherSoul's recommendation. I've been using the LEA Mentolada (green tube) in my rotation for a couple of years and it is excellent. The moderate amount of menthol is perfect for my preferences.

Lord's menthol cream performs above its price IMO.

LEA Classic is pretty light in the menthol whereas the Mentolada is close to if not slightly more than Proraso green.

I find the Palmolive Rinfrescante to be more cooling than LEA and Proraso green. The performance is also excellent for the price IMO.

If I recall correctly it was the discontinued Proraso single blade wood and spice that got me into menthol creams. The menthol is on the milder end but still noticeable. I also like the Proraso blue and green. The blue has the mildest menthol of the three. I also have the Palmolive rinfrescante. Though I probably would rank all three of the Proraso creams higher than the Palmolive it’s still an excellent choice

I like Proraso green real well but am looking forward to a real face freezer. I use Osage aftershave sometimes so menthol does not scare me. Suggestions??

So far my menthols ive tried are Proraso green cream and the Palmolive menthol. Todays was with palmolive.

Proraso was way more cooling and "face freezing" in my opinion than the palmolive. But i REALLY enjoyed the palmolive greens shave , smell and milder cooling sensation..

the palmolive green almost has a pleasant toothpaste scent to it , slightly medicinal. The lather from it was incredible for the price point. Really invalidates stuff like musgo which wants 3x $!

Ill be trying the LEA green next to see where it ranks in comparison as well as the LEA classic cream in a tub.

Really fun this menthol feel !!

i really wanna try the Lords Menthol but i dont want to invest in 12 tubes of anything lool!! such a good price though 48$ USD for 12 tubes i think , something around there, including shipping!!!

The Palmolive scent is "green hand soap from my childhood" 😅

You can expect the Lord cream to be pretty cheap in Egypt, probably under $2 each tube.

In any case, you won't need any more cream for awhile if you have the LEA Classic tin that should last a long time.

Don’t forget to use the mentholated pre-shave, A/S and balm to elevate the experience even further.

So i got the splash and the balm and to be honest i really really dislike them both from a smell and an ingredients standpoint. I find the Weleda After shave balm superior in smell and ingredients quality. I havent tried either yet but im not really feeling inspired too. I did check the ingredients online and went for it in hopes the smell would be siilar but oh no.. Especially , The splash, it smells very different to the soap/cream.. and the balm can not hold a candle to Weleda, if you want to finish off the proraso green shave.. trust me and try this!

Love the proraso green cream and pre shave cream but ill finish with the Weleda which has a stronger eucalyptus oil content and is much better smelling!

Have a new bottle with box of the balm and splash if anyone in Canada is interested , PM me ! Only used 2 drops from the splash on my hand to smell and washed it right off!

Cryogen. It is a favorite of mine.

Another favorite is to take another menthol (Noble Otter Northern Elixir for example) or peppermint (Hendrix for example) and add menthol crystals to it.

I don’t use the menthol or peppermint scents as often as sandalwood scents, but I do enjoy using them.
