TOBS Avocado

I just opened a fresh tub of TOBS avocado cream today. I have been using this cream for years and never liked: (i) the brittle plastic tubs that used to crack spontaineously, and (ii) the scent which I though was awful. I did like the excellent quality shave however and kept it in my rotation (and replaced it) for that reason alone. The old tub was one of the first with a stick-on rather than embossed label.

The new tub is much better plastic, slightly resillient - unlikely to crack IMO. The scent is much less pronounced and quite pleasant, the color is near-white rather than distinctly green. The texture is firm but quite light compared to the almost greasy feel of the old version. The new one lathers up very well, a bit less dense lather and not quite as moisturing IMO. The new one reminds me of Trumper's coconut oil cream - even the scent. The new one is also "paraben-free". Overall a rare case of a shaving product getting better after what amounts to a make over IMO.

Very interesting... I purchased a TOBS Avocado tub early last year, and it's everything you describe as the new version. I was completely unaware there was an old version! How long ago did you buy your last tub of old version?

I have the new version of Avocado, I am really enjoying this great cream. Nothing bad to say about it. I also was unaware of the old version. Thanks for the info.

I bought that last tub ~2 years ago and it may have been in stock at the vendors for a few months as well.

I've used a couple of the TOBS cologne scent creams, but think that the avocado may have to be my next purchase. I've heard a lot of good things about it.

I wonder if you had a bad tib? I've never experienced anything you describe.

I can confirm that my new tub is different than my previous tube. The cream is whiter, a little less dense, and the scent is not as strong.
I can't comment on the performance, since I haven't tried the new cream yet.

I bought a sample of this; I really wanted to try it based on the excellent reviews it receives here. It is a great performer. My first impression of the scent was that I really liked it; then I thougth I didn't like it; smelled it again this evening and now I'm just not sure.

Love this cream. Probably the most moisterising of the TOBS range IMO. Its my everyday cream.

I have tried Avocado & Shaving Shop.
Shaving Shop scent keeps bringing me back to this one. I cant get enough of it. It just gets better everytime. My vote is for the Shop. I would like to try Mr.Taylor's next. I hear that one is pretty amazing too.

TOBS is a great line though & great value. They have a great variety of scents & you cant really go wrong because of theie price point as well.

I used TOBS Avocado this morning - and was reminded how great it is, how much I like it - best lather of any product I've used BAR NONE. (And if you could see my shaving closet - and my cc statement... ah, well.)

Great great stuff - if I had to CHOOSE ONE - this might very well be it!

(and I followed the shave with Saint Charles Shave Avocado Oil ASB - excellent!)
