Timing my str8 shaves

As I've mentioned before, I'm a fan of this guy:

So I began timing my daily two passes to DFS.
Yesterday I did it in 12 minutes but got two tiny bleeders. Today I did it in 14 minutes to a better shave and with no unwanted side-effects.

The guy in the video above has several advantages over me - his hair seem thinner and much less dense. In addition, my face seem to have curves around the mouth that are difficult to shave in one sweep like he does.
Even with DE it wouldn't take less so I'm happy with 15 minutes for two passes and 20 for 3 passes to BBS.

How long does it take you?

He cut himself too!

I could do one and a half passes that quickly if I didn't care about cuts or closeness of shave.

One and a half passes and I'd look like my avatar! (Only more manly!)

I just love the frozen smile at the end as the camera woman asks if he has finished, and he mutters that he is done, trying his hand at ventriloquism.

I apply the same philosophy to shaving that I do to cigar smoking, rum and Belgian beer drinking and a bunch of other things that proper decorum won't allow me to mention, I take my time. What's the rush? If you don't have the necessary or required time to do it without rushing, wait until you do and do it right. Come to think about I don't rush to do many things. I think I'll smoke a cigar now, I already shaved this morning.

Legend.

He's just shaving.

For him it's not a magic time for quiet reflection, to ponder the mysteries of the world in a zen-like state for 45 minutes while classical music plays softly in the background and the smell of freshly ground coffee wafts in from the kitchen, with bluebirds chirping on the windowsill and his wife baking bread.

This is traditional shaving. stripped to the waist in the kitchen, bleary-eyed and in a rush.

Swip, swip, swip, splash, done.

Nothing wrong with that in my book.

Hmm... Good idea! I have a Partagas Habanero beckoning to me as I type this.

He had just doused his face in Zuperfreezun, the super mentholated aftreshave that is illegal in this country. He was unable to move his mouth!:w00t:

I take way more time, around 35 mins I would say (prep/shower-shave 3 passes-postshave + cleanup).

However, my time is going down so I should be able to get around the 20 mins mark... One day...

I'm not trying to trim time, but I have three types of shave. The daily work day shave involves face or bowl lathering, no scuttle and takes about 20 minutes. The luxury shave takes about 40 and involves a cup of coffee. I will add that sometimes I skip the morning shave and wait until evening at which time I have a drink instead of coffee with a luxury shave.

The third type is the "I'm expecting a new razor in the mail today" and I have a 1 1/2 or 2 day growth for the occassion and I'm expecting a long leisurely shave, savoring each pass.

The hot shower begins my prep followed by O'Mehlior pre shave soap. There's a hot scuttle holding my brush which will soon whirl and tickle my face as I apply the lather. There's no music or anything else playing so I can hear the razor gently and oh so lightly glide across my face, caressing and slicing each hair. Caressing and gliding, gliding and caressing. The warm steel, the slick lather, the feeling of doing something that involves personal skill that's not canned or instant.

All too soon its over and I can rinse with warm water followed by cold water, then an aftershave splash. Oddly enough, by this time, I'm wanting a cigar and I don't even smoke.

Hey guys, you smoked this thread with all the talk about cigars which reminds me I have an aged Padron and a a few Cuban in my mostly empty humidor for today as it's my birthday...

Yep, when he applied it first to his face, he nearly burned himself as it was so hot. If that's not hardcore shaving, what is?!
