thoughts after first-time C.O. Bigelow use

I found a coupon online and got 2 free tubes of CO Bigelow at Bath and Body Works. The wife was pretty happy, cause I had to buy some moisturizer and stuff to get it, so no complaints from her!

I wanted to try it because its the same as proraso, and I love the proraso asb and pre-shave.

I like the smell, and love the menthol effect on the face! It shaves pretty good, but I feel like I may have gotten too much water in the mix. I shook out my brush twice, does it require more than that?

Overall, I really liked it! My face didn't feel super tight like it does after TOBS and AOS. I wish the smell was a little more prevalent, but for $5 I can't complain too much. I will definitely keep it in my rotation.

Any advice on water/soap ratio? I used about an almond size dollop, and the lather looked watery, but was still somewhat thick. I guess I thought there would be more lather too...

thanks in advance!

I like it too, but I have noticed a few things between high end and low end products.

You often have to use much more of the low end stuff. For example: my fiance has relatively short hair and I have relatively long hair. She buys $2 shampoo and conditioner where I spend $10 on each. But she buys one every month where I can go 6 or more without restocking. So who saves?

Same applies to cream. I use way, way, way less of the good stuff for the same amount of lather.

I put about 1/2 inch on a wet brush and face lather. Shake the brush so it's not dripping. When you are working it, the lather will start to feel thick, just dip the tip of your brush in water and continue working. Each time you dip the lather will build further. Continue adding a touch of water until the lather is fine and creamy. Usually takes about 3 - 4 dips, and leaves enough in the brush for a second and third pass if required. Then pause for a moment to enjoy the menthol before shaving.

A lot stays inside by brush so before shaving a section I wet the area then brush and the lather just keeps coming and coming. Also, since you like COB, try KMF - it's really good stuff, too!

I have some KMF unscented, but my wife told me she's going to order the mint KMF this week! problem solved with no effort on my part!:thumbup1:

Thanks for the tips! I think I'm going to hold of on the Bigelow until closer to summer, the cooling sensation will be a great way to start off those hot southern days!
