What's new

These don't come up often. I need a FP recommendation

EDIT: There's an extra 'm' each time I typed Lamy. I'll offer my first born son as penance for my carelessness.

I have a pair of Reform pens I bought off of ebay to ease on in to full time FP use. I'm using Noodler's ink in both of them and I'm more than happy. My only real complaint is the grip when writing. The pen is smooth as smooth can be where my fingers hold and I find my hand slipping when taking long sections of notes. Is there a pen that has a bit of a rubber grip there that is a good buy? I have a few specific no-go items that will keep a pen out of reach for my needs. It needs to be thin. I wear a flight suit for most of my pen carrying hours and the pen slots on the shoulder aren't the widest. They'll hold the Reforms just fine, and will hold the retractable Pilot roller ball, extra fine tip pens you can find at any office supply isle. It can't be expensive. I'd like to keep the cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $30. I also need an extra fine nib. I saw a writing example of the Lammy fine, xfine and a .5 mm pencil together. The Lammy extra fine was perfect for my needs, so something that size is needed. Colors are a bonus. I'm considering bringing home a Lammy Safari just for grins. I like the bright red and the Blue. I know their grip is formed, bit is it rubberized at all?

Thanks for the help!

What about the Parker Reflex? I stumbled upon it during a quick google search and it has one of the needs, a rubberized grip. Adam, the Logo is just a stainless pen with no rubber grip, right? I could have missed something when I glanced over it. It looks nice, but I'd really like something sticky to keep my fingers where they belong.

Parker Reflex ... that may be the one if the diameter isn't too large. I was thinking Lamy Accent, palladium finish and has an India rubber grip but is probably out of the price range.

Yea no rubber grip on the Lamy, The logo does have a grooved grip area. Not sure about the nib selection/interchangeability on the reflex, or how fat it is. Good price though, get one and see if you like it.

The Lamy Nexx has a rubberized grip section although its a fairly hard rubber. The diameter might be too large for you though.

I finally remembered the pen that fits, and is about the maximum diameter. It's a Pilot V5 Retractable. Anything more than that is not going to work. I'll look into the pens mentioned. Thanks for the help so far, keep 'em coming.

I just finished messing up the Pass Around Journal with my Faber-Castell.
Love this pen, not too big, not too small, the medium nib is very smooth...geat pen IMHO
My carry-round Kaweco Sport is a smooth writer, but if doing extended writing it gets a bit uncomfortable for my hand....

Which Faber-Castell? I looked at their carbon fiber one and it definitely caught my eye. I fear it's a little too big around, but it might be worth buying...you know, just to see
