The smell of Tabac

Phil at Bullgoose has a clearance on Tabac cream. I bought some because I wanted to try Tabac but had heard that the fragrance was polarizing. I did not want to invest in the soap if the fragrance was not to my liking. I tried the cream this morning and still can't tell you if I like it or not.

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It is alternately floral, musky, spicy and then back to floral. Certainly complex.

Performance wise, the cream was fine. My favorite product, fragrance wise, is Men-u concentrate cream but the performance is suspect. You have to use a well broken in brush with the right amount of water or you get a mediocre foam.

At first I really hated the smell of Tabac (and even sold off my first puck of it), but a few months later I tried it again, and now love the scent. :thumbup1:

Haven't used the cream but LOVE the soap. Give it a week or put it on the shelf and use something else. You will come back to it and fall in love.

I love the musky smell and the great lather it makes.
It's my go-to shave soap(I really need to mill it so I can put it in a travel tub:lol:)

As I have said before, there seems to be a love-hate relationship with the Tabac scent. Either folks really like it or really dislike it.

Personally, I love it - both the scent and the shave it gives.:thumbup:

I had a wonderful shave yesterday morning with Tabac, a Semogue 1520 brush, and a Merkur 38c loaded with a Derby. Finished off with Pinaud Musk.

A most enjoyable shave.

PS. If you do not have a Semogue boar in your collection, please consider getting one - they are great with soaps. Leon and Bruno are great and build a wonderful, hand made boar brush.

Who is the best source for purchase of a Semogue brush?

For the performance that Tabac gives I can put up with the scent. Not my favorite scent but not intolerable either.

I have been in limbo on wether or not to buy some , but , talking to my Father a couple of days ago , he told me he remembers his Grandfather shaving with a Gem razor and Tabac. This is right after I told my Dad about a Gem razor I bought this past week at an antique store.
I am now very excited to order a jar of Tabac next week!!!
