The Merkur Classic 1904 is Nice!

Pick up a Merkur 1904 yesterday.

It is one good looking razor.

The nickel finish and classic handle design are a winning combination.

As for shaving, did my first shave this morning using the supplied Merkur blade. To my surprise I got a BBS shave by doing a two pass WTG shave.

Gotta love this razor!

I have been thinking about picking up a 1904 for a while now. I have a HD that is a fantastic razor and gives a really good shave, but the 1904 is one beautiful razor.

If it shaves as good as it looks I may never have to buy another razor again.

Yeah right...Who am I kidding...

I also got a HD recently along with the Classic 1904.

They are both great razors!

I don't know how to explain this but both razors have a "fun" factor to them.

Plus they both shave great.

That's a very good question.

Eying both of them they do look like the same heads.

The heads are the same, but the heavier weight of the HD may make it a tad more aggressive.

I really like the 1904. I have both the straight comb and the open comb. They shave great. I usually use either one for my second and third pass. I find them easier to move around rough spots. I now like the feather blades. I do my first pass with my HD straight comb, or HD open comb if I have a 3 day or more of beard. I've just started to use my Merkur slant, and that may replace my choice of first pass razor. All in all though the 1904 is one fine razor.

I chose the Classic 1904 as my first razor purchase, but they were out of stock so I bought the regular Classic, instead. It is my favorite (i.e., most used) razor and I never went back and bought the 1904 that I wanted. I would still like to have one, though.

I turned my father-in-law on to DE shaving at Christmas time when I gave him an old Superspeed - he went right out and ordered a 1904 and a Vision for himself so I recently got to see the 1904 up close and it's even better looking than the pics of I've seen. Makes me want one.

Go for it Tim. Get that 1904, you won't be sorry you did. It was my second razor, and look where its gone since then. I love it, I'm sure you will too. Its not all that expensive.
