Saw where Leisure Guy had reviewed this and gave it a decent write up.... anyone used their shave soaps (or creams for that matter) .... their scents look intriguing.
I have the gunpowder spice and mountain man soaps. I haven't used mountain man yet (can only shave once a day!), but gunpowder spice is good stuff, nice slick lather. I've only bowl lathered with it, but I suspect it'll be a great face latherer. Be careful about using too much water, it seems easy to overdo it. The scent is good, but not strong. They came wrapped in paper, so long-term storage will need to be arranged. There a lot of great artisan soaps out there these days; these guys are different from any other I've tried. Have fun!
Have never used them myself, but in his other life, the man behind the label is a professional prop-maker with a love of the Old West aesthetic, which makes his soaps and brushes and kits AWESOME looking.
I've since used mountain man and gunpowder spice again. The soaps are good performers. the aftershaves sound good, too, but I have more than I need. let us know what you think. the soaps can be recommended: good stuff at an affordable price. this is an artisan who deserves support.
I ordered the AS sampler and they threw in soap samplers. The soaps smell fine but the lather quality is very weak. Thin viscosity. Lots of tugging in shave. Had two bad shaves with them using my rock-solid combo of a Fatip and Personna med. I'll use them as hand soap.
The AS all give me a terrible headache. And I don't care for the scents. Smell kinda "off" in my view.
I *think* one thing to remember with Leisureguy's reviews is that he works with very soft water due to his municipality so his results are going to be different in some cases. This is something that I've read on his blog years ago with another soap that was not working for most guys with average water but he got an excellent lather from it.
