Soap disorder

Help! Does anyone else have this. I recently bought several lots of soap and cream with the thought they would last a couple of years, and enjoy a leisurely time using them. However, I find I'm dying to use them up quickly and use far too much in brush overload. Luxury shaves, but restless to get rid and buy more. HELP!!

I certainly did and am still trying to avoid buying soap unless I see something really unusual at a good price. I am nearing retirement and have in excess of 30 pucks or bowls of Yardley Black Label, Yardley Lavender, Shulton Old Spice, Goya Cedarwood, Roger & Gallet L'Homme, Faberge Brut, and Tabac. Similarly I have almost 30 sticks of Yardley Black Label, Yardley Lavender, Shulton Old Spice, Williams, Tabac, Dubarry Silkashave, Palmolive, and Erasmic; plus a few tubes of Yardley, Shulton Old Spice and Old Spice Burley creams. But, I am fighting back and this year I have sold all my Cussons Imperial Leather and Goya Corvette pucks, plus about 30 Palmolive sticks 👍

You sold your Goya Corvette pucks. What madness is this?!

Sounds like par for the course, so welcome to the club!

Silliness aside, this is quite normal around these parts.
Some of us have divested, including through PIFs, or exchanges, or sales on B.S.T. forum.
For future purchases, I believe some vendors in the USA sell sample sizes of various popular soaps.

Are you at the point yet where you wished you could shave more than once a day to try more soaps?

I am amazed sometimes when a member puts up for sale a large quality of soap they have acquired over who know what time frame. Then I see most are unopened or used just a tad. I only have maybe 3 - 4 tins of soap, a couple of tubes of Cremo, and maybe 1 or 2 sticks of soaps. When I use something up I look for another price point replacement. I live in small condo, and space is limited for unnecessary storage. Besides smell is not important as I shower post shave.

That's where we head shavers have an advantage - a sensible limit on supplies for the face then go completely bonkers with as many scents as possible for the scalp. It's almost logical if I talk in circles long enough to explain it to people who don't get this stuff.
Keep having fun with it Roy, a big lather of smelly goodness is a great way to start the day.

It's pretty common around here, anyway. I've got close to ten years worth of shaving soap, I think. Ran across a really good deal on a favorite soap the other day and had to talk myself out of it since there is no real need. I keep thinking, "who knows when that deal will come around again, or maybe that soap won't be available in the future"...

The main reason I ended up with all these soaps was curiosity and wanting some variety. Well, I've got enough soap now, and for a long time to come. Most of them were reasonably priced, thankfully.

Just take the blade out of your razor for three or four fully lathered passes and put it back for three or four more. Maybe a BBS tummy and back for “Painting torso as a Jack O’Lantern season” for another few passes? You’ll have that stockpile whittled down in less than a decade

My situation is similar. Given that all of my soaps cost less than $10 each, in part thanks to sales, typically significantly less, it does not represent a huge investment for the benefit of having plenty of my tallow favorites like Williams and MWF on hand. Additionally experimenting and learning to generate the best lather out of each soap has been enjoyable.

Actually, given that you are a vintage soap collector, around 60 soaps is not an excessive amount of soap at all. We enjoy your posts regarding your collection. (Not counting the 30 Palmolive sticks purchased for some re-sale)

P.S. This is assuming I'm reading your post correctly that you have 30 pucks/bowls in total of all the soaps on the subsequent list. Not 30 of each!🤣
