Tape and Pasted Strops

If I use electrical tape while honing an edge on a stone, do I need to tape the blade again to sharpen it on my four-sided pasted strop? It would seem to make sense, but I really don't know.

I'd be grateful for any advice.

There's much more "give" on a strop, even a paddle. I would think that would negate any miniscule change of angle due to the tape, so I never tape when I strop.
