Tabac lid

This may be a silly question, but is the lid on tabac supposed to just sit on, or be snug? It's very loose on my new purchase...

Mine just loosely sits on. I'm not sure you'd want an airtight seal anyway, as any residual water on/in/below the soap might, er, fester

I had the same question when I bought mine. The lid should be loose fitting, basically it just rests on the bowl. There are four "feet" on the lid that allow a small amount of air in/out so the soap doesn't get funky.

Awesome, thanks guys.. was just not sure cuz I could hear it rattle in the box with the loose lid, but all is good.

On another note.. I now have TABAC!!! Time to try this stuff out!

and to answer the question about leaving the lid on, sounds like most people let it air dry for at least a bit, or the puck will start to swell up a lot...

Do you guys typically put the lid back on after you've shaved?

I wash off whatever's holding the soap, then I let the soap dry out, then put the lid on. The amount of drying time depends on the soap (e.g. my milled La Toja takes forever, but Tabac's dry almost instantly). But I definately don't leave soap uncovered: Dirt/bacteria magnet (especially in a bathroom).

I sometimes mix my SuperLather on the inside of the Tabac lid, so I wash it off before putting it back in place.

Usually, I put the lid back on immediately when done. During the winter when Tabac is the backbone of my rotation, it doesn't stay closed long enough to worry about the soap getting moldy or anything.

I'm surprised that Tabac puts a plastic lid on a ceramic bowl ... they should have a nice ceramic lid to go with it like MWF does, or a metal lid with metal bowl like L'Occ Cade.

I ordered some over the weekend so I'll get to try it this weekend!

Now I won't be surprised about the lid.

I love their EDC
