T.J.Maxx Summer Recommendation.

It seems my local T.J. Maxx has gotten in a new shipment of scents. Their shelves are over flowing with all of their regulars, probably because of the upcoming Father's Day holiday.
Can anyone recommend a "Summer Frag." for me? I have a lot of warmer, wintery, stuff, looking for something lighter. But, not a "metrosexual" scent.
Thanks.

From what I can envision at my local TJ....Tommy Bahama would be a good bet. I'll edit if I can think of more later.

I am a fan of Tommy Bahama in the summer. I like the Signature in the brown bottle and the Set Sail St Bart in the blue bottle.

Have any of them specifically spurred your interest?

Not really familiar with any of them Randy. They don't have testers out, of course, so I can't try them. Just looking for a proven crowd favorite and not a dog. For the price, I would try 2 or 3.

Sometimes they have Kanon Norwegian Wood, and it's usually only $6.99. It's probably the best bargain I've ever had on cologne. It's a mild sandalwood/cedar scent that has pretty decent staying power. Dan and Ed's rec for Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Bart is a good rec. The signature brown bottle might not be as light a scent as you are looking for, for summer. Another they usually carry is CK One, which got a 4-star rating by Luca Turin. I should pick up a bottle to try it for myself. Turin describes it as a citrus scent with a soapy fresh top note. I've worn several other CK scents in the past, and always enjoyed them.

Bvlgari Aqua and Aqua Marine are salty ocean air type scents that you might like in the summer.

If they have Cubano Gold, or Cuba Paris Gold, those are worth trying particularly since they are very inexpensive, although not strictly summer scents I think they could work. They smell a little like Le Male.

I can think of other good scents that are usually found at TJ Maxx, but they aren't really summer scents, like Azzaro PH, Quorum, etc.

Let us know what you try, Jeff.

I got a bottle of Adidas Ice at TJ Maxx for $9 I think. Its a great scent for the summer but it doesn't last long. I have also seen Perry Ellis 360 which is also a nice summer scent, I think they sell it for about $20.

I think it is hit or miss. I have yet to find a good bottle yet at any of the discounters. They never have a good, or large selection. Is it possible that not all of TJ Maxx, Ross, etc. carry the same bottles like a Target or Walmart would?

TJ Maxx's stock of fragrances are gonna be different, normally overstocks from other retailers, same with most of the stuff in their stores. All of the TJ Maxx stores in may area have a decent selection of cheap to mid-range fragances. I like going to them around the holidays because they always have those gift sets for sale.

Hugo Hugo Boss (in the green box) is another summer scent that I've enjoyed and picked up at TJ Maxx in the past, but I haven't seen it for a while.

Hugo was my signature when I was in my early 20's. I still like it, but do not own it, and find it a bit too synthetic. Maybe it explains my thing for loud or obnoxious frags.

Well, the only one they had from the recommendations here was Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Bart's. Havn't had a chance to try it yet. I thought with the full shelves I was going to score a couple of these. I guess they have all of the usual shelf fillers.

I did see some summery sounding names, but none mentioned here.

I do already have Azzaro and Quorum, but to me they are definitely winter scents.

Plenty of "Aqua" names, and some other brands I had never heard of. Had a Calvin Klein, but no CK One. I was hoping to find that kanon Norweign Wood, because Sandalwood is one of my favorites.

I'll let you know about the TB. I'm still open to suggestions.

Thanks all.

My experience has been that both TJ Maxx and Marshalls, as well as Ross stores, have a lot of fragrances, but most of them don't look that interesting to me. Like a gold miner, you have to be patient and keep looking to find the nuggets worth picking up.

Artisinal soap, though...

Certainly true - I picked up several glass jars of the old C&E sweet almond oil cream for <$10 ea before it was completely discontinued. Never managed to find a frag there but I still take a look now and then.
