What's new

SWMBO . . . just learned what this means

I'd been seeing SWMBO around the forums and couldn't figure it out for the life of me. At first, I thought it was some riff on significant other (with a bunch of odd words in between). Then I, you know, looked around and found the long form definition.
:detective:

And I love it. So accurate.

Lol. - recently a thread was posted about SWMBO. A huge group of people pressed how much they didn't care for the term. Myself being one of them. If I ever use the term SWMBO, I'll pack my bags and change my life.

The first time I ever heard that phrase was in a tv show called "Rumpole of the Bailey" from the seventies. I wonder if the writer started it.

Thus proving all the more the correctness of the title in the first place!

I hear you. I'd the last person to truly embrace the term IRL. But for some reason, when I read it, I hear it in booming disembodied voice with a british accent. In that spirit, I'm down with it.

I don't care much for the acronym myself. Overused, and sometimes in a way that can be off-putting. There's nothing wrong with wife, which is one of the four letter words we can get away with using around here.

I have no qualms calling my wife what she is... my wife. SWMBO is longer and slower to type. Seems like it started out as something funny to say in jest but now it's in every other post. Don't really care if someone uses it though...
