Super Mario Galaxy 2

This may be a long shot, but I wanted to ask here if someone might be able to help me out. I started playing Mario Galaxy 2. I have noticed throughout different levels that there are pads that have spiral type glittery air. It looks like a launching pad of some sort. I dont know if they are just decoration, or if there is a way to activate them.

I thought I would ask anyone here if they might know. Im really enjoying the game. Trying to actually find all the badgers/stars instead of rushing through the game.

I dont ever remember seeing those in the game. I can check it out though and let you know. Have you tried standing in them, and shaking the controller?

If you stand on them and shake the remote, it transports you up onto a platform full of various bad guys. If you kill all of them in a certain amount of time, you get like 3 or 4 1ups or something. If time runs out, the bad guys disappear and you get nothing. Not sure that they are too important for finding all of the stars/extras etc. FWIW, I've only done it once or twice. Its usually the spiky spinny guys up there, so you have to spin each one, and it just takes too long.

Thats exactly what it is. You ahve to spin while on them. Fun game. Im stuck on some world though, and im trying to 100% the game. I dontk now if its gonna be possible though :p

I just got a Wii a few weeks ago and have been working my way through Super Mario Bros. Wii, which I'm still trying to get over just how awesome it is.

Safe to assume that I'd also like the Galaxy series?

Everyone I've spoken to who likes any of the Super Mario franchise likes the Galaxy series.

I've had a Wii for a year now, but I never really have time to play. It's frustrating. I play a little MarioKart with my 4 year old when I can, though. Good times. He loves it.

It's excellent, my wife plays as my little helper and she has a great time too.
