Streamline technique?

Is there a specific-and unusual angle to hold a streamline to get a good shave- I have used my 'new' Ever ready streamline about four times and can't seem to match the shave I get from a couple of other Gems and Ever readys that are not nearly as highly regarded(nor were they as expensive) I am using it like my Gem Bullet it terms of touching my face with the head, changed blades, etc but I get much better shaves from from the Bar, Shovelhead of Clogproof than I am the Streamline. I am baffled and would appreciate any suggestions!

It is definately a more agressive razor than most other Gems and ever ready's. I also prefer the shave from a Damaskeene or Micromatic. But the Streamline is just so gorgeous!

You may want to try holding the razor just under the head, this is a great trick to remove the wrist from the equation for any razor, but is especially helpful with SE razors.

Personally, I find that I get better shaves when I treat the Streamline more like a 1912 and keep the flat of the head up off my face a fair bit. The Micromatics may work OK with the lid against your face, but the others need a little steeper blade angle, I find.

The Streamline was the hot sell on B&B for awhile. Everybody sang it's praises...for awhile. Then the Streamline detractors started posting they were not getting good shaves with it. The only points of agreement about it are that it's expensive and sexy looking. I agree with both points.

I own one, a complete set with the stropper, but I've yet to use it. With several 1912s, I'm happy, especially the GEM Damaskeene. I will take it out one day and see for myself...but I've treated it like a museum piece thus far.

Sounds defective. Send to me for a decent burial ceremony.

Other than that - what MacDaddy said. Dont put the lid right up against the face.

Did you score a Streamline, HG? How did I miss that?

Alas no. (trust me, you'd have heard the yeehaaaa in Virginia)

Just going by what I've read here and the resemblance of the head shape to the 1912. I would assume just from the look alone that it was much more similar shave to a 1912/1914 than a Micromatic.
