Strange bevel

B

bluefoxicy

So repairing a tiny bit of damage i did while shaving. I've recreated the bevel on a Norton 4k.

On the side touching the stone while the blade moves away from me, the bevel is wider at the toe.

On the side facing me as the blade comes toward me, the bevel is wider at the heel. The damage is also taking twice as long to repair on that side.

Could be that you push more with your left hand and pull more with your right. Could be that the blade is curved slightly. Could have something to do with the razors shoulder. Hard to diagnose without holding, much less seeing the razor.

If you have created the uneven bevel, it is the result of uneven honing. Uneven pressure would be my guess, probably due to lifting the tang or toe or pushing harder on the tang or toe.
