Straight Mappin & Webb

Hello Gents

Here is a straight razor that could be a piece of history, it's a 5/8 Mappin & Webb with Genuine ivory scales, very good condition and with it's gorgeous box.
On the blade I can read " Nulli Secundus", "Second to none" and taht's the name of the first british army dirigible in 1907.
Perhaps this razor was own by a crew member, perhaps by the captain.
Whats your opinion on this piece.
I'm not a straight user and I'm not a collector but perhaps someone here is

here is the pictures :

I'm a big fan of Mappin and Webb straights. I've got a few in my collection. Great shavers and very classy. That's a great looking example.

I owned one as well in the past, the engraving was a common one for this London Silversmith/Jeweler. Mine had been a part of a 7 day Gentleman's Set. Enjoy it!

yeah....my guess would be it's just a saying those chose to put on the blade, whether it be to memorialize that ship, or just to use a known phrase to imply their razors are better than the rest. I've seen scales personalized, but I don't think I've ever come across a blade etching that appeared to be intended for a single person

either way, a very nice looking razor, in great condition with hardly any signs of hone wear. I'm sure many users/collectors (myself included) would be happy to own that one :thumbup1:
