Storing brush while travel damp

I workout (swim) a few times a week before work. I shower and shave at the gym and go directly to work.

I was wondering about leaving the damp brush all day in the car. Can I just keep it in a zip-lock bag or would that damage the badger hair?

Would I be better off taking it out and leaving it dry in the car?

What to do in the winter time as I live in Wisconsin and it likely will freeze. Although the sun keeps it warm enough that my damp towel in my duffel bag doesn't freeze too often.

Since I work out 3 or 4 days a week, And I want to get into DE shaving, I don't really want to use a cartridge for half the week. So I'm looking for recommendations as to how to best deal with this situation.

I suppose I could bring the brush into work and have to answer 1,000 questions why I have a brush drying. And if I forget it then I'm screwed. As I only have one brush so far. LOL

Get a synthetic and leave your natural hair brush at home.

Yep, that sounds like a perfect application for a synthetic brush. Take a look at the Muhle Silver Tip Fibre brushes. A lot of guys think they're just as good as real badger and being synthetic, they'll dry in a flash.

Yeah the Muhle Turnback Brush in synthetic will solve all your problems. Actually you can close it up, put it in your pocket and take it into work with you no worries.

This is a very good synthetic travel brush.

Use it. Shake it out well. Put it in your pocket and don't worry about it

I avoid leaving any shave gear in a car. Below freezing temperatures and broiling summer heat just can't be good. Concerns would be the glues, wood, horn, and whatever ever synthetic you might have being damaged directly, or indirectly by having the item live a shorter life.

+1 on all the above advice. My two brushes are a Muhle HJM black fibre ($25 delivered, Connaught) and an Omega boar 10066 (about $10 delivered, Connaught or Shoebox). The HJM is a great brush for every kind of soap (if you're okay with soft tips on the face), is a no-fuss brush, and dries in a flash. The Omega boar is very good, too (and of course as a boar it's scrubbier on the face). It dries pretty fast, is another no-fuss brush, and if you want to be extra safe you could just toss it on the car seat (or whatever) to dry without worry.

I don't have any synthetic brushes but when traveling with a baor I just leave it exposed on top of clothes in my gear bag or luggage and it is fine until I get home.

A few hints from someone that travels a lot. One of my small travel brushes doesn't dry as quickly as others.

A big help would be to get a travel tube for it. A large prescription bottle with holes drilled in the lid works very well. It would help to drill a few holes in the bottom too, however I cracked a bottle trying so proceed at your own risk. Take your brush with you to a drug store and tell them you would like a prescription bottle to transport the brush.

Shake the brush well before putting it away. If you have a slow drying brush, it helps to GENTLY use a COOL hairdryer to help dry it what you can before you put it into the travel tube.

Lastly, take the brush out of the tube overnight and allow it to dry as much as you can.

Additionally, I have two travel brushes, and try not to travel with the same brush two weeks in a row.

I'm also looking for a travel brush and I like the one in the picture you show below. What is the name of that brush and where would be a good place to purchase it?

Thanks!

That's a Muhle Travel Brush. You can find them at several vendors for about $55. Superior Shave, Royal Shave, or from Muhle's site.

+1 on the homemade travel tube using a prescription bottle. I have done this, and it works very well.

+2 on the homemabe precription bottle travel tube.

I put plenty of holes in it and use it with a Badger Brush and it will dry out. However I live in a dry desert environment.

For you I would recommend the synthetic also, since you will be using it so often you might have a drying issue in the winter.

Just rinse it good and maybe even give it a good cleaning on the weekends and let it dry out at home.

+1 on the hjm. I bought a vented travel case (also from Muhle) from WCS for about $5. It's vented and completely adjustable depending on size and loft. It works perfectly.
