ok i know there is another walking dead thread but i felt like many people may not be caught up on the show and its hard to discuss without giving away details.

what i dont understand is.....last season ended with them camping out really close to the prison, then this season starts up and it seems like they never found the prison at all and been scavenging around for a long time. and they talk about "making it through the winter" so i'm thinking they went the whole winter without finding the prison that was right behind where they were camping?

I'm thinking that they just found it, there was Forrest last season between them and the prison. Maybe they turned the wrong way. This year proves to be good.

I would think that for the winter the hunkered down somewhere and did not roam anywhere too far. I posted in the other walking dead thread the entrance to the prison starts up a whole new chapter to there journey I think the winter and finding the prison were just minor things in the bigger picture. If you have read the comics finding the prison was not a huge deal but exploring the prison and outfitting the prison to live in it is a big chunk until the governor comes into play, then **** gets crazy.

you're right, they did make finding the prison not as big a deal as making it their new home. i just found it interesting that they were so close all winter and missed it. i've read the comics, all but the last 2 issues. i was happy to see the people living in the prison! cept in the comics that crazy guy ends up killing those two kids, since no kids are in the TV show that i see getting killed, i wonder if they will write him out or if he'll kill the old mans youngest daughter??. (i can never remember names) and i'm anticipating the governor! wonder if he'll have his daughter like he does in the comic??

I am excited for this season just got caught up on episode 1. I will have to get a hold of the comics, I am really curious about this character that saved/took Andrea under her wing. Also the prison, Herschel having lived in that area I don't understand how that would not have come up at some point prior.

Michonne! there is soooooo much in the comics that i doubt they will show on AMC. but nonetheless the TV show is well written. i was shocked to see as much zombie killing as i did, i'd say the most in one episode since the barn scene in season 2.

i doubt any kids will be killed because people frown about that stuff so im sure it will be left out. The governor will be interesting to see what they do with him with the crazy stuff he does but also what michonne does to him. Allot of what happens in the comics at this point can not happen in the show do to lack of cast on the show to the people in the comic. with darel dieing on the farm etc... I am happy to see everybody stepping up and handling them selfs even carl is stepping up his game which should make for a more interesting season I get tired of people crying all the time they came strong and did what needed to be done!

A friend of mine has the books and has voiced a similar opinion about things being written out of the show. I have not had much time for enjoyment reading with my schedule. I may need to make an exception for these books though.

guess that means Lori and the baby will live....

not that im against that LOL

the comic is great I read it a while ago before the show came out lost interest in it until the show came out got back in and finished them all 102 lol. The writers said they will loosely follow the comic, use it more of a reference ,so you do not need the comic to follow the show its more of to see them come to life which is why I love all comic movies. If you enjoy comics or love the show that you want more then what they offer id say get into them but its not a must read by any means.

if you enjoy the show then you need to make time for the comics. also keep in mind they are only about 30 pages each, you will FLY through them. i read 1-76 in about a week, maybe less, but no more.

im against it!! she needs to die I hope its a zombie baby and eats her from the inside!! I hate lori one because you mean to tell me that all the times they stopped looking for food and water they could grab some condoms glen and magie did it, they have enough problems a baby is just gonna add to them. Plus she drove shane obsessed over the whole thing. Then she has the nerve to ride ricks *** about everything he does i hope she gets it lol.

haha nice input. makes sense. i could go either way. she does think the baby is dead. that would be an interesting twist....the baby comes out a zombie and they keep it! its not like it could really harm them...can't walk, no teeth, a defenseless zombie baby.

I understand that they have been using the comics more as a frame of reference not as a script to say. I simply enjoy having insight into things, and I feel I would enjoy having an idea of what is going on, along with what hasn't made its way into the shows.

As far as Lori's baby I am on the fence. I honestly cannot say what I would want to happen, as much as I hate the nagging type of role she has had I think it would be interesting seeing the group deal with having a baby around.

i only use the comics as a reference to what they COULD do. i like to watch the show and say things like "yup thats in the comic" or "wow thats completely new". its fun. as of now there are 2 things i'm really anxious to see pan out. #1 is Lori and the baby. #2 the governor. there is A LOT they could do with him in the show.

6 more days!!!

I thought the same thing, they were so close to the prison then discovered it after winter? Who knows. I wish they would have more flashbacks.

They did talk about going around in circles and never getting anywhere. But that does smack of that trope where they shoe horn a discussion into the dialogue to explain a glaringly obvious plot flaw.

What was the deal with the tin of food they opened and threw away without even checking? Tinned food lasts years!

While there was plenty of action in the first episode, they were still doing stupid things. When you need to kill off a bunch of zombies in a fenced-off area do you:
A) Wait on the safe side of the fence and kill them one at a time as they approach you.
B) Run into the midst of the zombies recklessly.
I don't think script writers would last too long in the zombie apocalypse.

are you talking about the canned food the kid found? i thought it said dog food on the can, and he was about to eat it and Rick chucked it. I saw that as "we ain't that desperate yet. my kid ain't about to eat dog food"
if it wasnt dog food as i thought it was then heck, maybe rick just wanted to show he's in charge still.

Ah that could explain it. But personally I'd have thought that dog food is more nutritious than the crap we feed ourselves.
