Got a very good shave with the CF Limes. Much more impressive than the lavender. The smell is quite intoxicating.

After using the Derby's for a while and then going back to the Merkur, my view is there is absolutely no comparison and I don't know how I shaved with the Merkurs (didn't realize there was anything better out there and this probably explains why I didn't use a DE everyday - it was only the third shave with the blade and its already well past its best before date - the only shave that was decent was the first one).

I really got the hang of the skin tug (using a washcloth as an aid) and I gave blade buffing another try today. Wonderfully smooth shave...

I also used some citrus-mint hair pomade, making this a citrusy-minty shave. I should pick up some Victorian Limes cologne!

I promised myself that I would be sensible, start by using a straight once a week or so; well that was never going to happen was it? Still, if I can't restrain myself, then at least I should be able to stick with a smaller straight whilst learning the ropes. Wrong again! Even before I started out with straights Henckels ( along with Dubl Duck) was a name that jumped out at me, and today was the first day I used my whopping 15/16 friodur. The general opinion is that Henckels are good but overpriced, I don't really have enough experience to compare them to other brands, but all I know is that 1 N-S pass and I had the closest shave I've ever received. This razor is phenomenal. It's going to take more time to learn properly but the Friodur definitely has a place in my regular rotation.
