Yesterday’s shave was a wonderful BBS shave in two passes with minor cleanup. I tried to duplicate the shave again today, but fell a little short with just a DFS shave in two passes. The only difference I can identify between these two shaves and past shaves is the way I’m loading the brush. In the past I swirled the brush in the cream or soap container and then took it to the bowl to lather. The last two shaves, I’ve scooped an almond sized dollop out of the container and pressed it into the bottom of my bowl. The lather seems to be the same, but something is different with the last two shaves.

Brush: Shavemac 18/44 Pure
Soap: Rasozero Agrumella
Razor: Fine Marvel
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (2)
ASL: Cool Lemon

Another great shave.

The Marvel felt even better today. Although I've liked it from the start I guess my technique with it is improving. It's funny the way these things just seem to happen as if by magic.

I'm enjoying my new Shavemac Pure (second outing). It's quite different to any other brush I've used, but I need a few more shaves with it to be able to describe these differences...

I'm very pleased with these five items of hardware/software.

Happy shaves guys! :cornut:

Pre: Noxzema face wash
Soap: Martin de Candre Original
Brush: Yaqi Mountain Lake Two-Band Badger
Razor: Gillette N2 1968 Slim, setting 5 for the first pass and 1 for the second
Blade: Astra SP (#2)
Post: Alum followed by RazoRock King Louis aftershave wax followed by hyaluronic acid followed by Nivea Sensitive Cool balm followed by The Cool Fix

Overall good shave, but the post got to be a little involved. Slim combo of 5 to 1 worked well and I'll probably go for that again tomorrow night.

How about we try again and this time put it in the right thread. Geez.

Razor: Milwaukee Barber Supply “Milwaukee First” by JA Henckels
Brush: Ever-Ready 100
Soap: Williams
AS: Aqua Velva. Early ‘70s vintage in the fishing reel bottle

How about some vintage products today?

The same honer did both this razor and the one I used the last time I shaved with a straight, but the edge on this one seems to work much better for me. Maybe because despite its obvious rough life it’s still a Henckels.

The brush has its original knot. You know, it’s weird, I like old boar knots but not new ones. But I dislike old badger knots and really like new ones. Maybe I just like sparse boars better than sparse badgers.

The brush lathered the Williams perfectly for my needs and the razor did glide. Turned into an excellent straight shave. Solid DFS+.

The Williams soap box says to try Aqua Velva for cool comfort after shaving, because there’s something about an Aqua Velva man. Damn right there is.

Thought I’d use this razor tonight out of my modest collection. Had maybe used it once years ago. It had sat in a box for a long time. I am pleasantly surprised with its performance. Very mild smooth shave, no discomfort, impeccable BBS results. Took off a one day beard growth with it...... I am satisfied. I will keep using this razor for a few more shaves.

Greetings,

A new shave set up to start the weekend...second outing with the Eco Warrior shaving bar using it like a shave stick again which provided a adequate slick protective lather for the full shave with no dissipating or drying out issues in-between each pass leaving a great post shave feel to my skin.

A comfortable 3 pass + pick ups near BBS shave with no errors to report...Finishing to the shave off with a generous dollop of Aloe Vera Gel.

My face is feeling super smooth and smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.
