Razor - Asylum RX Blade - Feather ProGuard Brush - Grizzly Bay "Salazar" 26mm Fanchurian 2-band badger fan Soap - Mystic Waters Raspberry Lemon A/S - Proraso Blue
Today's shave was remarkable. It was quite possibly the gentlest shave I've ever had. I'm learning the Asylum requires a really light touch from me. That, in combination with the ProGuard blade and a great lather, allowed the razor to just lightly touch my skin and glide right through the stubble. It didn't even feel like a blade, and yet the results were still very very close. My skin feels like I haven't even shaved, it's ridiculous. Props have to go to the soap too. Mystic Waters has some of the best slickness of anything I've tried. It really allows you to just let the razor slide without any catching. Much nicer lather today too; a denser, shinier, creamier result. Great stuff all around.

MONDAY, 8 June 2020 Pre: CeraVe Bar Lather: Cella Brush: PAA Starcraft Bowl: Silicone dog feeder Razor: Hone Type 15* Blade: Astra green (1) Post: GBS alum block Balm: CeraVe Frag: Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male
*Finally got this razor to behave. Normally, I lather up,
make one ATG pass, then re-wet areas in need of touch-ups (chin and jaw),
and without re-lathering, blade-buff them smooth, re-wetting as needed.
This works fine with an S/S razor, but not the raw brass Hone.
Without at least a thin layer of lather, it tends to drag and skip.
Very frustrating.
So . . . I re-lathered for my touch-ups and now
all is well with the world, the Hone, and my face.
Anyone else out there have this issue with a brass razor? Just curious.
A new work week is upon us and may I wish you all a safe, productive and happy one! Today’s razor of choice the iKon Deluxe OC loaded up with a Super-Max Blue Diamond. I am lucky to have the Deluxe OC, X3 slant, El Hefe SE and the Standard along with a bevy of handles. I love the X3 but this Deluxe is one excellent shaver. I enjoy the 80mm bulldog handle most with this one.
Stirling Soaps Tuscany was on my short list for today. Great scent Tuscan Cypress fragrance oil, add in some Calabrian Bergamot and Violet, and sprinkle with an array of spices. Perfect! I haven’t really been mentioning brushes of late well today the job fell to the Simpson 59 which was my first really good brush and fuelled my love for Simpson brushes. It is a big brush but the loft and knot size are perfect. I face and bow lather with it.
Lovely three pass BBS shave to start the week. Topped it off with Guerlain Habit Rouge EDP and we are good to go. Enjoy some sun if you can. Please stay safe and most important, be kind to those you meet everyday because you know not the battles they face.
Pre: Shower, Boots‘ Cucumber Facial Wash & Scrub Razor: Parker 99R Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1) Brush: Gentleman’s Face Care Club - Premium Brush (synthetic) Cream: Cyril Salter - Sublime Citrus Post: Proraso Aftershave Lotion & LEA Sensitive Aftershave Balm
Liking the Salter Sublime Citrus - nice one Cyril! I get lemon and a bit of tangerine.
This Gentleman’s Face Care Club brush was sent to me and I think it’s really good. The knot felt like it would work very well with a soap - got a bit of sturdiness, bristles probably firmer than badger but not as firm as boar. They sell their products on Amazon UK and apparently all their products are made in the UK.
