70's Sunday Shave

Wild West Brushworks "Odin"
Barrister and Mann Jacinthe Soap
1970 P4 Gillette Knack Razor
1972 S2 Gillette "The Spoiler" Blade
Barrister and Mann Jacinthe Aftershave
Nivea Cooling Post Shave Balm

Close comfortable shave today with the Gillette Knack. First time using a Spoiler blade and wasn't sure what to expect. Good performance, although I felt a bit of tugging along the neck hairs. Still irritation free though.

The B+M Jacinthe is a great product. The soap lathered quickly with the WWB Odin brush and provided a slick and cushioned shave. Great post shave feel! The Jacinthe AS did its job and the scent reminds me of a walk through a crisp, damp garden with evergreens off in the distance.

Many thanks to @rlroadie2004 for generously providing me the B+M Jacinthe products and WWB brush in the Pandora's Box #2 PIF.

Sunday Shave was a combination of the excellent Stirling Christmas Eve soap, applied with a Wild West Glacial Melt badger brush. The edge was provided by my favorite vintage straight, this Johan Engström frame back. The aftershave was the classic B&M Le Grand Chypre.

Two passes, a bit of touch up, and just an superlative shave. The only blood occurred when I very lightly tapped the edge with my little finger, and I'll be darned if it didn't effortlessly cut it. What an edge!

I'm also mightily impressed by the quality of the cream provided by Stirling's soaps. This morning it effortlessly whipped up some beautiful cream that looked good enough to eat. The slickness was very good, and between the edge and that fine cream, the shave was one of the best.

No change to the Set-up other than the re-introduction of the Shavette, (need to keep practising). Still loving the TOBS Sandalwood so much. A close shave, and smelling so good I could eat my own face, if the Shavette hadn't got there first.

Filter is almost poetic.
Is your Dark Masamune new? If so, hope you are enjoying it.

Sometimes you gotta let those SOTDs escape into the wild . . . or at least as far as the porch rail. I like it.

Patti
Yep, it's cold and wet here right now. I'm using hot water now (I shower shave and during the warm months, I use cold water only). After this shave I went out on the porch and noted steam emanating from my freshly shorn head when I saw my reflection in the window. Closin' the pores, as it were.

That would have made an awesome photo, especially with the Longfellowian “the day is cold, and dark, and dreary” background of your woods. Or, hmmm, would it be more Wes Craven? :001_smile

C.O. Bigelow, hand turned spalted maple brush w/26mm super silver badger, shaving bowl from Ukraine, Iwasaki western tamahagane, and Penhaligon's endymion post-shave balm. Kind of around-the-world in one shot. IMG_20181230_232310720.jpg
