Sometimes Too Many Soaps Can Not Be a Good Thing

Like many others on this site, over the years I have accumulated quite a few soaps. The result is that at times I only got to a soap every few months and quite honestly forgot how good some soaps were.

Well, that happened this week with Cella. I had not used this great soap in three months - until this week. Since Sunday this has been my exclusive soap and boy I now realize ho much I missed it. The lather is and feel of this soap is just great.

The result: I have made a promise to myself not to buy any more soaps until I use some of the old ones up. Now if I can only keep that promise! Of course, since I bought the 1K of Cella, I am not in any danger of running out of that one.

I'm stuck in the same boat. I got a shelf and it's full. Until I uncluttered it, I won't be buying any soaps (or Aftershaves). That's difficult. The only way that I can do this fast is to use the same product. I don't mind much but then, when I get a good product and finish it, I got to put it on the list...

I know what you're saying. To perfectly sum it up I have a sample of Cella that was given to me by a vendor with a purchase of some other gear and it's just been sitting untouched since November 2011 lol. I hear good things about Cella but then I hear that it might not be the best for sensitive skin so I've always been conflicted if I should give it a try. Just not enough shaves for the amount of products I have.

I sure know what you mean. But I figure that it is never wasted. Either I can use it, or somebody else can...

I concur, picking a brush, soap/cream, and AS for my daily shave is a burden. Often, I realize I haven't used a product for long time. The only soap that I try to remember to use weekly is MWF.

Jim, Cella for me is always one of the greatest ever. No matter how many soaps I have in my rotation, I never forget about my first love.

I agree. A while back I made an effort to not purchase any new soaps because I have a pile of them in the closet.
Well a tub of AOS Lemon for $16 threw that out the window. But to my credit, I haven't purchased anything else.

I have said this before, but my SWMBO keeps me in check. She supports my hobbies so long as I don't get too far gone. I keep 4 products going and only replace or buy different when I run out of one. Limited on space and funds also helps.

I agree with what you're saying.

I support what you're saying.

But until RR, DRH, and a host of others stop producing new scents...I cannot in good concience follow what you're saying! :biggrin1:

OCD in action: Besides the fact that I've relegated a few inexpensive soaps to full-time head-shaving duty (Williams, VDH Deluxe and Luxury, and Erasmic Rich Lather stick), I keep a word-processed soap rotation list that covers 30 consecutive days. I'm trying to keep all of my soaps happy! But some soaps--especially Arko, Cella, and Razorock XXX, followed by MWF and Pre de Provence--do get multiple turns.

Once I use some of my soaps , I am going to limit how many different soaps I will continue to use. Cella is a keeper for life !!

I am currently trying to play along with the 3017 thread. I have only just started, but have to say that I like it so far.
Less options, more pleasure? (Suddenly I feel pro-marriage and anti-Subway:blink:)

On another note, this thread is just another reminder that I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like the way Cella performs. For me, it just don't have enough slick! Since I am in such a minority, I assume I am too incompetent to build lather correctly with it. I gave my tub away.

I agree having too many is a problem. I guess "too many" is subjective- I have about 16. The problem is, I don't know how to stop.

My story exactly!

I have 45 soaps and creams, including 3 that are in transit. 25 of those I haven't even shaved with yet. I just finished two months of mainly using cream samples and I'm down to just two of those left. What I'm now considering is either using a new soap or cream every day until I've tried all that I have, or boxing up half of what I have and putting them in storage, only pulling one out after I use up one from the half remaining.

I thought about selling or PIF'ing those that don't interest me any more, but the problem is that most of them still do.
