Soap puck dissolved

Has anyone ever had a soap puck dissolve on them? I submerged my VDH puck in hot tap water, went into the bedroom to get the rest of my supplies, I came back and the puck was nearly gone. I'm thinking the temperature of the water was too high (even for bathroom). Thankfully it was only a puck of VDH and nothing more expensive, I can replenish it tomorrow with one from Wally World for less than $2, but it was the point of the whole thing that shocked me. I did not have my brush moistening up in that water, thankfully.

I've put a good 1/2 inch of very hot water on the top of a VDH Luxury puck for the length of time that I was in the shower, and while the top was very soft and mushy, I can't imagine even boiling water dissolving a whole puck that fast. Very bizarre!

Bummer, good thing it was just VDH. Still strange, though.
A few drops on top of the puck is all you need, no reason to soak it!

That happened to me once with a sample puck from Ogallala Bay Rum. But that was a very small amount of soap compared to an entire VDH puck. Like the others said all you need is a little water on top. Although I've stopped doing even that.

The following may or may not be relevant to your experience.

Some time ago, I got in the habit of lathering right on top of my VDH in a mug. When I finished shaving (not being overly fastidious), I'd leave whatever lather was left to dry out overnight and give me a head start the next day. Sometimes, the layer of dry foam would fool the eye into thinking it was actually soap. If I put hot water on top of that dried lather, it would quickly vanish.

Eventually, I got a lathering bowl, and switched to making superlathers most days.
