So who got the double-ring?

I'll bet the seller of this razor was pleasantly surprised when the final bid came in. ($332.77) :001_tt1:

I was watching that one, which is what I always do with a double ring on the bay...watch. I'll just keep hoping to run into one in the wild.

I want a double ring for my collection, but could never justify going that high. I guess I will have to stumble upon one in a store somewhere.

Not a bad price for a patent pending DR with the requisite trimmings.

It could still have a serial number on the inner barrel, though. But I dont think thats going to affect value really one way or the other.

Look at the pictures carefully. It is a patent pending DR.

;)
Lots of Pat Pending have Serial Numbers, I know i have. 4 digit one )

Also you can just change the inner Barrell of a Single ring which has no number on the barrell and its becomes a Pat Pend no Serial :eek:/
So its kinda hard to prove its an Original Pat Pend no serial DR :eek:/

I like low Serial Number DR's at least it shows originality and they can be dated better?

Based on what I found here, which seems to have been corroborated by others' experiences, it may not be that simple to just swap in a later Single Ring barrel undetected. In short, it seems that these very earliest Double Ring barrels can't be swapped into a Single Ring and screwed up tight. So if that's an accurate general observation for all the un-serialed Double Rings, you'd be able to test them by trying the barrel in a Single Ring. If it doesn't fit then you can be pretty sure you're in good shape. If it does fit then either my findings aren't true of all early Double Rings and there were simply some variations, or you've got a suspicious inner barrel.

I've
tried it with an early single ring Barrel and it fits perfect ) not loose at all. Unless that barrel from the early single ring was actually a Double Ring Barrel ? Anything is possible,
But i did try it and it was a tight fit.

No, you can put a Single Ring barrel into the Double Ring just fine. But try going the other way. If you've got an unserialed "PAT APL'D FOR" Double Ring try screwing its barrel into a Single Ring handle. That's what doesn't fit for me.

Ohh ok, but that was my point, it was about switching a Single ring barrel into a double ring with pat app for and now its a Pat app for with out a serial number and there is no way to tell if its original or not :eek:/

Sorry about the mix up on my part.
