What's new

So I Know a Guy Who's Got a Lathe.

A friend of mine has a lathe and also enjoys wet shaving, so naturally he is starting to make some brushes. I went online and bought a blank and a knot, shipped it to him and here is the what I got back.

I am a terrible photographer and the pictures don't do it justice. So what do you guys think?

I am honest blown away. This brush is really great. I have a couple brushes from Bob Farvour and Rudy Vey and this is right on par. It fits like a glove in my hand. The knot is set just right so it has great backbone but still lets the lather go. I am very pleased with it.

It is a TGN 26mm Finest XH knot. Loft is right about 50mm. I have a couple of these same knots, but this one seems to have a little softer tips. Probably mental because I really dig the handle.

...and the handle? Where did you get the blank?

My newest TGN Finest is also notably softer than the ones from two years ago. I think the current stock is just softer, plus others have alluded to this on the forums as of late.

I remember seeing the thread, but couldn't remember who started it. The new knot reminds me of my Thater in that it doesn't feel soft until it is wet. Then it is magic!

That is exactly what mine is like. Feels like vanilla two band until its soaked, and then its super luxurious.

Very nice. I gotta find a buddy who owns a lathe and can turn stuff.....oh wait, I do, but hasn't turned any brushes yet (wink, wink, penmanship)

That is a wonderful looking handle and the knot looks perfect. He (and you) should be quite proud of that brush.
