What's new

Sliced myself....

Just cleaning up yesterday, reached between my razor stand and the mirror, felt a slight BURNING sensation, looked down, saw the BLOOD and realized a finger had slid along the END of my fatboy. Not along the sharp side mind you, the narrow, unsharpened end, that protrudes out of the razor (WHY do they do this?!). It was a Super Iridium too..
I went for my usual go-to for significant cuts, krazy glue (some of you may be shocked, but it was DEVELOPED for wound closure), realized the nozzle was clogged, got a pin, tried to unclog it (while holding direct pressure), got blood and krazy glue on several things EXCEPT the wound....gave up and just used direct pressure.
Not too bad really, just a cut, healing nicely today.....I had no idea the ENDS of the blade were so SHARP!

Krazy/ Super glue is the best for cuts. My g/f thought I was nuts for the longest. ER's across the country have conducted studies on this stuff for years. Works grand.

Somehow I have managed to not cut myself on the non-cutting end. But given that I am accident prone, that is surprising. Glad you are healing today.

Glad to hear it wasn't too serious.
Be careful with that kind of stuff. Pins too.

Would have been the epitome of irony to stick yourself with a pin while trying to open a tube of glue you were going to use to close a wound.

Glad things worked out for you. The only problem with crazy/super glue is once you open it, it will always seal up tight and need to be re-opened. :thumbdown

I am accident prone, and have cut myself frequently with the blade tabs that extend beyond the razor on vintage Gillette's, I have done this so often, I now consider my Muhle razor to be a vastly superior design over the Gillettes (as it covers up the blade tabs).

Anyway, I started a discussion of this very "flaw" recently, and it can be found here:

I was doing pretty good with this tube too....had used it maybe 3 times without needing a pin....

Interesting read - thanks! My Edwin Jagger DE87 (supposedly the same head design as yours) doesn't QUITE cover the whole tab.

Heh, sounds like a Monty Python skit. Zing!..cut with the razor, Bloop...Krazy Glue in the eye while simultaneously pricked with the pin, ***stumbles backwards with one eye shut***trips over tub and gets hopelessly wrapped up in shower curtain***a British man with bad makeup and dressed as a nurse comes to carry you to the infirmary***

LOL.

Seriously though, glad it wasn't too bad and that you're on the mend.

Got myself with that end of the blade a few weeks ago as I was moving the razor to my moustache area. Not as bad as this morning, however. I was feeling so good with a Crystal in my HD and I thought I would go nuts with an ATG pass above my upper lip. Man did I cut myself good at the top edge of my lip. Great shave otherwise!

The Muhle doesn't 100% cover them either, but the danger is greatly reduced when compared with a Vintage Gillette. I think it rather nutty that Gillette's (such as Adjustables, and Superspeeds) expose so much of the blade tabs.

There are a couple of razors on the market (such as the PILS, and the Wilkinson Sword) that do in fact cover the entirety of the blade tabs.

Hope you heal up soon. I'll have to pick up some Krazy Glue for wound repair! I've mostly used the liquid bandage stuff, but Krazy Glue is cheaper.

The only version of cyanoacrylate glue that is not toxic is the octyl cyanoacrylate version.
